The ancient legends that abound the Russian Imperial Stout of yore are filled with tempestuous romance, sinful thievery, and scurvy, too. So highly regarded was this historic recipe, the Russian Kings tried to keep it all to themselves. They failed. Today we bring you our own dastardly dark version, with a rich and roasty aroma, notes of plum and port and a velvety texture so luscious it just might make a grown man weep.

Jet black, dark tan fizzy small head. Abrasive, roasted malt aroma with maybe a hint of vanilla. Stout is very smooth, with some excusable alcohol burn on the finish. Taste is a little brash, simplistic, with some molasses, more alcohol, and some roasted malt... it almost seems a bit salty. Its a very good, but not great stout.

W aromacie klasycznie - kawa, paloność, ciemna czekolada. Ładny, dość intensywny aromat. Barwa jednolicie czarna, ładna, drobnopęcherzykowa piana. W smaku podobnie jak w aromacie - głęboko palone, z mocną, gorzką czekoladą i dość wysoką goryczką. Sporo ciała, gładka faktura, średnie wysycenie. Bardzo solidny, nic nie urywający RIS. Sączy się z przyjemnością!

Bottle in trade from solidfunk, thanks for the opportunity! Solid black with a good sized tan head that persists. Roasty chocolate with a bit of earth and licorice and just a touch of dark fruit. Pretty tasty stout.

12fl oz bottle at home from de Molen, Bodegraven. Nose is cocoa, milk chocolate. Body is black, head is small, brown, creamy, fully lasting, excellent lacing. Aroma is chocolate, dried fruits, old wood, light smoke, dark chocolate. Light sweet, medium to heavy bitter, hint of fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting roasty medium bittersweet, lots of chocolate. Full body, thick creamy texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy dessert beer, tasty, nice one.
