April 27th, 2012 - Mission Brewery’s Hefeweizen followed the Blonde, which itself primed me for sweeter beers, and stuff much more sugary than the style would suggest. And the hefeweizen nicely follows suite. Cloudy, unfiltered, foggy, and blend of amber and yellow, it sits and looks like a hefeweizen should. On the nose is a ponderous layer of overripe banana, vanilla, fresh rain, cream and clove - a powerful mixture. and pretty pleasant. The flavor depth is immediately appreciable, but mellows to a long, long, long aftertaste, pushing bananas and vanilla wafers well into the aftertaste, and practically stacking it onto the next sip. The palate is unusually heavy for a hefeweizen, and that may come from unattenuated sugars, and it certainly explains why the palate and flavor give off a yolky, tapioca vibe. It’s on the dessert beer side of things, but if I recall, this is one of the beers I enjoyed from Mission, and one I’d try again (now that I am reviewing old notes and reminding myself of what I did and did not like.) weihenweizen (3831) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - DEC 29, 2013
Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Pours hazy deep golden with very small white head. Aroma is banana, medium body, well carbonated, and very little lacing. Taste is banana and grainy. Below average for me. Leighton (21258) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 17, 2013
Draft at the brewery - San Diego. Pours cloudy yellow with a creamy white head. Doughy and yeasty wheat bread on the nose. Medium sweet flavor with cheap wheats, bubblegum, lemon peel, creamy meringue, light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish with doughy wheat, more bubblegum and lemon meringue, pancakes, straw. Not bad. Concealer (1247) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 3, 2013
Bottle. Clear gold with a thin, bubbly white head. Smells of citrus, yeast, banana, and cloves. Flavor is sweet fruit, banana, spice, and yeast. Light bodied with a dry finish; lingering fruit. Oscbert (1305) - Lincoln, California, USA - NOV 15, 2013
~Medium clove aroma with banana and bread.
~Pours a milky golden caramel color with absolutely no head to speak of.
~Very balanced flavor of banana and clove with bread, light caramel.
~medium light bodied, high CO2. Sweet banana bread like finish.
~Where’s my head? I like some good head with my hefeweizen. Enjoyable beer, but nothing really stands out above the crowd.

12 oz bottle. Cloudy and yellow with a small white head. Strong fruity aroma and flavor with banana, wheat malts, clove, coriander, light spice, yeast and herbal hops. mkel07 (5988) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 12, 2013
355ml bottle from Archive. Banana aromas with a soft white head. Good flavour and finish. adamah (214) - California, USA - OCT 7, 2013
Aroma has nice bubble gum and banana aroma, with a touch of clove bit very light aroma all around. Nice orange cloudy pour with very thin white head. Taste is sweet and full, banana, clove come through and finishes slightly bitter. The finish is abrupt and the body is a little light; lacking the creamy texture of a bavarian hefeweizen. All around good but can’t measure up to a real Bavarian Hefeweizen. arminjewell (9675) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - SEP 7, 2013
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear orange pour with thin white head, aroma brings big bubblegum, banana, some biscuit, bread, clove, hints of fruity esters, lots of white fruits, and pepper. Taste is a mix of pepper, white fruit, bread, bubblegum, sweet fruits, banana, clove, pepper, finishing sweet. Just ok. DedicatedToFun (4000) - Santa Monica, California, USA - SEP 3, 2013
Decent hefe, nothing crazy here, on tap at the brewery, hazy, sweet, blue moonish.
