The beer is dark mahogany with crimson highlights. Small, soapy tan head. The aroma brings raisins, cookies, sweet malt, dark fruits. Sweet and malty. Dark malts with prominent fruit, finishing with alcohol sweetness. Ripe plums, a hint of cinnamon. A bit much. Lacking elegance and a refined character that would make a nearly 10% abv strong ale appealing after more than a few ounces. Eh... alexsdad06 (10268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 16, 2014
22 oz bottle 2012 vintage. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweeter caramel malts, dark fruits, figs, toasted malts, mild nutty character, some earthy and leafy hoppiness. Solid, especially for the price. Bomber from Trader Joe’s in Tallahassee. Dark brown pour with light brown head. Aroma of dark fruit and malt, brown sugar. Tastes are caramel, coffee, nuts, cocoa. Little tinny metallic vibe. Dark fruit, little earthy. Not bad. ads135 (4587) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - MAY 29, 2014
Sweet and musty. Seems like the love child of a dubbel and a brown ale. Burnt with some dark fruit. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2014
Not too bad considering. It is definitely a bit of a brown ale with some roasty notes, and hops.

Bottle courtesy of CAPTRON. Dark brown with a rusty red hue around the edges. Aroma is chocolate malt, caramel, light nuttiness, toffee and toasted grains. Taste is sweet malt, chocolate notes, caramel, dark bread, toffee and soft nutty notes. Body is medium with a soft creamy carbonation and moderate stickiness. Slight warmth to this as well. Ends with more caramel, nuttiness, booze, toffee toasted malt and light grains. Not bad at all! trapped (3086) - New York, TURKEY - APR 12, 2014
Bottle. Brown with reddish hue, light caramel aroma, caramel-roasted malt taste, medium carbonation, medium finish with alcohol aftertaste. Strong for a brown ale, reminded me of bourbon barrel aged ales. LearninBeer (578) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - APR 6, 2014
The aromas is caramel and a touch hops. Pours a dark reddish brown with a mostly diminishing light brown head. The taste is sweet, then a little bitter/sour. the body is medium/light, the texture creamy, the carbonation average and the finish long. Overall a very nice beer. Dark brown with a tan head.
Aroma of light molasses, dried fruits, brown sugar.
The flavor is sweet following the molasses and fruits that came to the nose.
Fruity with lots of body. Jeffjuergens (10) - - MAR 18, 2014
This year’s Mission St. Anniversary Ale showcases complex malt flavors with roasty notes layered in and medium hop character. It is a blend of three incredible brews carefully blended for maximum aroma and flavor. We affectionately call this brew an Imperial Brown Ale.
