With Z, a very old bomber found in the back of the beer cellar, pours a mahogany brown , small beige head . Nose is sweet caramel , toffee and malt . Taste is pleasantly sweet malt and lighter caramel and toffee ! Finishes on the sweet malty dry notes! Descent ! Quaff Score 8 / 10

Not too much aroma. Very mellow flavour, some hot alcohol in the finish. Caramel and dark chocolate. There’s something that’s not quite right but it’s very hard to say exactly what. A touch acid-metallic? or something. Still, not a terrible beer overall.

Bottle at the Dec 2015 meeting of the Shrewsbury Beer Share Group. As the name hints, it’s a brown coloured beer, the head beige. Malty with a caramel semi-sweetness along side some bittering coffee grains and chocolate notes. Decent enough without setting the world alight.

Bottle from trader Joes in fl. Seriously good brown, considering price. Dark brown pour, white head. Pleasant soft aroma. Not bitter at all. Nice surprise

Pours brown with whitish head. Aroma of toffee and roasted malt. Bitter finish which is not very good. Some hints of off flavors. Overall not very good brown ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A solid "light" brown ale, slightly bitter finish. A little weaker than my preference but a really good value in the 22oz Trader Joe’sbottle.

22 ounce bottle. Reddish brown color. Large Rocky tan head. Pleasant toasted malt nose has notes of cocoa and toasted nuts. Upfront, flavor is rich buttery malt with a subtle cocoa and toffee background. The middle is complex and spicy with notes of dark fruits and peppery hops. Finish is chewy malt with more cocoa. Overall, a tasty Brown Ale at a great value at $2.99 for a 22 ounce bottle.

Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: 24-oz. plastic tumbler From: Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif. Price: $1.99 Purchased: April 3, 2015 Consumed: April 3, 2015 Misc.: Bottled on Feb. 9, 2015 at 8:42 a.m. Poured a very dark brown murky color with almost four fingers of khaki tan, frothy head. Lots of layered foamy lacing on the sides. Good, thick retention. (Sight - 3.50) Smelled nutty foam, caramel, light toffee and some candied brown sugar. I think the plastic tumbler is hurting the nose here. (Smell - 3.38) Tasted a bit better than the nose and slightly more bitter. Got bitter nutty malts, faint roasty malts, caramel, light sugary toffee and plain old barley. (Taste - 3.50) Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Slightly bitter, abrupt finish. Probably had this a bit too cold. (Feel - 3.50) This was just an OK brown ale, although I must say I didn’t have it under the ideal circumstances and/or drinking glass. But for $1.99, I will certainly try it again. (Overall - 3.50) 3.48 79 B-
