Black, full bodied, and very flavourful. A medium strength stout, very smooth on the palate and exhibiting a pronounced bitter and distinct hop aroma, a well balanced milk stout - great for a winter’s evening or any other time!

AtronSeige (1707) - Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA - JUN 8, 2016
Aroma: Medium jalapenos, medium-light coffee. Light acidity. No hops. Appearance: Clear, black, nearly opaque body. Small, light brown head. Fair retention. Flavour: Medium-high roast. Medium-high bitterness, enhanced by dark malts. Medium woody, tobacco. Medium-light jalapenos. Light ash. Light lactic. Dry finish with lingering roast. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation. Medium-light astringency. Overall: As a sweet stout I expected more chocolate and sweetness. The roast is too aggressive. Jalapenos is a well known, but not understood off-aroma/flavor with stouts. Lacking in body. Astringency is a problem. 440 ml bottle, poured. 16A. Sweet stout

Holmen2 (4031) - NORWAY - DEC 1, 2015
Backlog. From tap at Mitchell’s Scottish Ale House, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, with HO 10.04.12. Black in colour, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt with a hint of old Port. Some caramel sweetness. Round mouthfield, little carbonation. Aftertaste of roasted malt and malt bitterness. A good and well-balanced stout.
