Moa Breakfast is a European style beer brewed with a blend of premium wheat malt and a variety of floral hops. A very refreshing lager with an abundance of cherry character and aromas, Moa Breakfast is more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage here in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4°C in a pilsner glass.

Bottle. What a weird beer. Pours golden with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is huge. You can smell the beer from 2 feet away. Lots of cherry, strawberry, floral hops. Taste isn't very good. Floral hops up front with some Brett like funk, fruit flavor turns into Robitussum. Palate is dry and crisp. Way too ambitious and poorly executed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Light and fruity. Sort of reminds me of a mimosa, though maybe that was just suggested by the Breakfast monicker. Not overly sweet.

Draft. Clear yellow color, medium white head. Aroma of straw, grapes, citrus. Taste is berries, licorice candy start, bitter hay finish. I’m not a fan of lager fruit combos.

Bottle. Hazy light yellow color with a nice frothy white top. Taste of berries, wheat, banana, medicine, artificial flavors. Fizzy carbonation. Easy to drink brew.

Draft at Churchkey. Clear light gold. Nose holds pure corn starch and red Twizzlers. Flavor might actually be worse, with bits of sweet vanilla working in with the disgusting mareschino sweetness. Really just awful, I don’t know how this beer is getting good reviews; this was from a fresh key keg. Maybe just a weird batch or something strange happened in transport? Alas.

Whole Foods, Bowery 375ml ($7): Pours a peach color with a white head. Aroma is cherry, hops, and some other fruit flavors. Taste is slightly sweet at the front and then gets more bitter towards the finish, with a sort of dry feel towards the back. Fruitiness is way lower than I expected at the outset. Aftertaste is, however, very cherry. Pretty good beer. Would be a nice session. Alas, too expensive.

Not the best beer, lacks the balance i was hoping for. I would not enjoy it form breakfast.

This is my third Moa beer, and I haven’t been that impressed. But this one is new (newer) and I had to try it. The beer pours a light orange and has a lovely aroma. The flavor is... well, WOW. It is loaded with orange zest and leave the mouth with a pillow of flavor. VERY well done and my favorite Moa beer so far.
