Moa Breakfast is a European style beer brewed with a blend of premium wheat malt and a variety of floral hops. A very refreshing lager with an abundance of cherry character and aromas, Moa Breakfast is more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage here in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4°C in a pilsner glass.

Bottle. Pours clear yellow with a medium white head and little lacing. Aroma is wheat, apple, spicy, cinammon. Flavor is very spiced, prominent wheat notes, perhaps a bit of cherry. Lightly sweet, no bitterness. A little too spiced for me, but interesting nonetheless.

Bottle with Carla from Beermongers. Pours a clear yellow/gold with bubbly white foam. Smells of wheaty cherry juice. Tastes very bubbly and sweet with hints of wheat and cherry/pomegranate. More confusing than refreshing.

Smells like red licorice. Pale wheat beer appearance. It’s incredible how strong that cherry licorice aroma is . A bit too wheaty for me.

375 ml corked and caged green bottle poured a clear yellow with a lasting white head. Aromas of wheat, lime, floral notes and orange. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, crackers, lime, lemon zest and some floral hints with a crisp dry lingering lemon lime finish.

I actually drank this around 7:30 in the evening, so that may or may affect my perceptions of this beer. It smells very fruity - grape and blackberry, some mango, and a lot of bubblegum notes. Taste is equally fruity - a lot of blackberry flavors, actually. Not bad at all.

Bottle from Whole Foods, Sacramento. Pours cloudy blonde with a thick white head and a cherry aroma. There is a tart cherry flavor that leaves bitterness on the palate and a bit of banana ester. Refreshing, but not particularly tasty.

olsonerr (90) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Pours a hazy straw color with a fruity grape/cherry aroma. Palate is a bit oily, without as much lift from the carbonation as I expected. Wheat flavor is very prominent and a bit unbalanced, with a bit that I didn’t really enjoy.

Doghair (464) - Illinois, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Pours a pale lightly cloudy yellow. Big white foam that slowly melts. The aroma is almost soda like, maybe fruit cocktail. Taste is sort of a lightly fruited wheat beer. Very wheaty if that's a description. High carbonation. Overall a pretty good beer. I've never had a breakfast beer. Unique with an unusual fruit finish. More beer please...

DocLock (11048) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 12, 2012
Pours hazy gold with white head and fizzy body. Nose is pale malt, hopcitrus, berries. Tastes sweet, with a big raspberry flavor, pale malt, backup hops, and cherry vanilla hints late. This one was refreshing.
