Moa Breakfast is a European style beer brewed with a blend of premium wheat malt and a variety of floral hops. A very refreshing lager with an abundance of cherry character and aromas, Moa Breakfast is more commonly enjoyed as a mid-afternoon beverage here in New Zealand. Although not always.

Tasting Notes
Moa Breakfast is a wheat beer based lager with a subtle, sweet cherry aroma and taste. Hints of almond, banana and vanilla characters can also be detected. Low bitterness levels and an absence of strong malt characters emphasise these fruit flavours. Moa Breakfast can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a stronger yeast character is desired. Moa Breakfast is best served at approximately 4°C in a pilsner glass.

Pours a pale lightly cloudy yellow. Big white foam that slowly melts. The aroma is almost soda like, maybe fruit cocktail. Taste is sort of a lightly fruited wheat beer. Very wheaty if that's a description. High carbonation. Overall a pretty good beer. I've never had a breakfast beer. Unique with an unusual fruit finish. More beer please...

Bottle from Liquor Barn. Aroma of Cherries, wheat, some spice, and almonds.

explosivedog (1832) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 5, 2017
Bottle pour at Moa. Lots of sweet synthetic cherry, some tart citrus character, a sweet brioche background. Interesting, pretty tasty, nice full body. Very impressed.

Corked bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with an averaged sized head. This one was weird. Was getting fruity pebbles and just couldn’t get past that. Artificial sugary fruity pebbles.

wombat23 (2147) - Texas, USA - MAY 11, 2016
Shared 12.7 oz. bottle. Pours a clear straw with a white head. Medium to high carbonation. Nose is black cherry soda with licorice notes. Taste is not as sweet as the nose would indicate. Cherry, faint apple, and wheat. A medicinal finish not unlike watered-down cough syrup. Refreshing. Overall, it’s fine for a day at the beach and I wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered.

darbeer75 (1125) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - MAY 11, 2016
Aroma: extremely sweet cherry candy nose; unlike any beer I’ve had; Appearance: pale straw with thin white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: not nearly as sweet as aroma, but kind of like a hybrid between 7 Up and beer. Pretty refreshing. Palate: light bodied with medium cherry sweet finish; Overall: definitely different but would buy again for a hot summer day. Too bad it’s retired.

Cherry candy nose, lemon zest. Clear amber, thin head. Cherry, banana, bubble gum, dry. Full body, soft carbonation. Nice, but kind of artificial.

GuideDogSaint (1811) - Xiamen, CHINA - APR 17, 2016
Tasting from a 1.5l bottle at Beer Station, Xiamen. Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of cherry. Bittersweet finish.

vidmidia (286) - Vila Velha, BRAZIL - JAN 4, 2016
Amarela, ligeiramente turva. Espuma rala de média duração. Forte aroma de chiclete de cereja. Sabor adocicado equilibrado de cereja, levemente ácido, com notas de banana e melão. Retrogosto ácido.

BeerdedDave (2005) - Beckley, USA - SEP 24, 2015
on tap at Eulogy in Philadelphia; a wheat beer with cherries; amber color; smells like cherry cough medicine - tastes pretty much the same; very medicinal flavor; very light malt; I culdn’t finish it
