COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Imperial Stout is a very strong, upfront and rich beer hopped to over 100 IBUs. Aged with French oak, this beer not only displays coffee, mocha and smoked cedar characters but also some sweet and savoury notes unique to Moa Imperial Stout. A great beer to cellar and age.

Tasting Notes
Moa Imperial Stout is a very strong, bold upfront and rich offering of a famous beer style. Aged with French Oak, this beer not only displays coffee and mocha charters but also some sweet and spicy notes. A tannin like finish and an oak induced mellow bitterness makes it a serious stout. Moa Imperial Stout is best served just below room temperature in a tulip glass.

Tap at Muddy Waters. Super dark brown pour with a smaller soapy beige head. Roasted malt, slight lactose, some sour notes. Oat richness. Fairly full bodied.

Tap at Rail Trail Flatbread, exciting hoppy nose, but thin body and decent amount of coffee ish flavor, no real carbonation that comes forth.. probably served too cold too.

375ml bottle. Very dark brown, almost black, thin brown head. Roasted, oaky, spicy aroma, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, Semi-sweet, full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Rich, smooth, roasted taste, chocolate, coffee, licorice, vanilla, tannins. Good balance, complex. (2014-09-24)

Poured from a bottle into a snifter darkest brown black with a head that quickly left. Aroma is sweet raspberries followed by coffee cocoa. Flavor is drier than the aroma. Alas still a nice brew from down under. Don’t get the Pinot Noir here but I am NOT a wine consumer by any means. The bitterness is more than I like in a stout. A slight funk at the finish.??? Still a decent brew.

"I was really looking forward to this, but ended up being pretty unimpressed with the imperial part of it, and the barreled part. light vinous notes, maybe a bit of twang and extra carbonation, but really couldn’t tell this was pinot barreled. the stout is an ok one, but lacking in any russian imperial qualities. light and easy drinking...not what i was hoping for."

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2014 Bottle [thanks to mista] @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized beige to light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, lightly a touch of wine, a touch of roast but only slightly. Taste malts, lightly roast again and also a hint of wine but not a lot, bitter, slightly alcohol, slightly coffee. Lingering lightly roasty bitterness, a bit thin texture for a 10+ ABV Imperial Stout, decent body, medium carbonation. Pleasant, but nothing incredible.

Bottle @home shared by benzai. Pitch black colour with a small to medium sized beige head. Smells roasty, tar, coffee, hint of chocolate. Tastes some cork, roasty, coffee, chocolate, hint of red wine but it’s very feint, slightly sweetish and slightly grape peel. Medium to full body, soft carbo.

crazyvin (2026) - New York, USA - SEP 22, 2014
A black body with a tan head that had no retention or lace. Aroma was mostly roasted coffee, some chocolate malts. The was a mild sense of leather. No Pinot noir notes. Flavor had more balance between chocolate and coffee malts. A slight ester note in the finish. Decent stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Chocolate malt aroma. Interesting flavors- plenty of chocolate and cocoa as one would expect, also some spiciness with oak undertones. Full bodied with creamy mouthfeel and chocolate finish. Pretty damn good.
