COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Imperial Stout is a very strong, upfront and rich beer hopped to over 100 IBUs. Aged with French oak, this beer not only displays coffee, mocha and smoked cedar characters but also some sweet and savoury notes unique to Moa Imperial Stout. A great beer to cellar and age.

Tasting Notes
Moa Imperial Stout is a very strong, bold upfront and rich offering of a famous beer style. Aged with French Oak, this beer not only displays coffee and mocha charters but also some sweet and spicy notes. A tannin like finish and an oak induced mellow bitterness makes it a serious stout. Moa Imperial Stout is best served just below room temperature in a tulip glass.

Black pour orange hue, with a beige foamy overcarbonated head and decent sticky lacing .... aroma of overcarbonated sugars and red wine ... taste of roasted and smoked malts, light bitter roasted coffee and def heavy notes of oaked dry pinot noir .... finish is dry bitter and abv slightly evident

This impressive and unique oak-aged brew was for me the clear highlight and a new personal favorite from the Columbia World Beer Festival 2017! From a bottle imported all the way from Middle-Earth, this poured a dense dark black hue with a khaki foam head that steadily lingers throughout. Aroma was a relatively unsophisticated but rich roasted malt, which transitioned to a sweet mocha baseline for the taste, with a much fuller complexity of coffee and other malt flavors, along with notes of rustic oak and also lighter green wood - like fresh cedar - and concluded with an aftertaste of bitter coffee and chocolate malt. Medium-bodied and deliciously smooth. I will have to search out more bottles of this in my future!

From a 500ml bottle on 19/2/2017 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours close to black with a medium to big head. The nose features chocolate, basement and booze notes. Flavour wise, it starts out with sweet chocolate, some caramel and lots of roast/burnt malt, and some oak, which is followed b a distinct bitter/sour finish, which lingers in the mouth. The texture is creamy and the carbonation moderate. Not too dusty, but just a touch harsh at the back to reall hit the spot..

Bittle 500 ml, 10.2% abv. Not much going for it on the nose. Head dissipates quickly. Toasty malts, chocolate, coffee and a touch of smokiness from the barrel aging. A bit above average for an imperial stout, but overall a very enjoyable beer.

Pullo @ Alko. Kaatuu snifteriin sysimustana ja noin sormen paksuisen tumman vaahdon suojaamana. Tuoksusta huokuu heti tynnyrinnin tuomat aromit: vanilijaa ja puuta on sek makeahkoa hedelm, suklaata ja paahdetta. Hieman kuitenkin vaisu tuoksu ja tynnyri on eniten esill. Maussa kahvinen paahteisuus ottaa roolia suklaan kanssa, vanilijaisuus tuntuu hieman ja puu selvsti reilummin. Kevytt hedelmisyytt ja likrisyyttkin on joukossa. Suutuntuma on melko tytelinen ja makea, alkoholi tuntuu selvsti, ehk vhn liikaakin. Humalointi on yllttvn runsasta. Tuoksu on enemmn puuta ja vanilijaa, maku taas kahvista paahdetta ja suklaata. Hieman ji kuitenkin vaisuksi sek tuoksun ett maun puolesta. Alkoholisuus polttelee vhn liikaa ja en niin perusta humaloiduista IS:ist..

A suprisingly delicious stout. What the aroma lacks the taste makes up for. Its oaky and smokey. Quite a alchaholic finish.

Bottle. Very good style interpretation. Alcohol is hiding behind the oak aroma. Tin of sourness.

500mL bottle from Camperdown Cellars Pitch black body, holds dense tan head. Great nose to it - roast malts, charcoal, black coffee, fragrant & spicy hops, vinous red fruits, raisins, vanilla & toast. Body is slick, sticky, inky, with a drying roast, tannic acrid note. Not overly rich but intense - charred wood, burnt toast, coffee grinds, vanilla, raisins, clove, licorice, blackberry & currants. Lingering finish, touch of booze warming, very bitter, drying acrid note hangs around. Seriously good; good ageing prospect.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty licorice chocolate aroma. Roasted malty licorice chocolate oaky flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate licorice finish with oaky hints.

Bottle, pours dark brown with almost no head. Aromas of caramel, sweet. Taste is sweet, lots of roasted notes, with marked bitterness, somewhat woody aftertaste. Full bodied, but lacks complexity which I expect from imperial stout.

Moa stout is a taste treat, woody, bitter and sweet, dark and really strong. I ve only ever bought cheap Imperial Stouts and this is one of the best. (Most are too sweet and malty and not bitter enough)
