COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moa Methode Pilsner is a clean, crisp lager with a dry finish. A late throw of Pacifica and Motueka hops gives some upfront citrus aromatics, and the champagne yeast used in secondary fermentation imparts complex spicy characters.

Tasting Notes
Moa Methode is a German style pilsner with a high bitterness balanced with a relatively full mouth feel. Citrus hop characters dominate aroma with the presence of fresh bread yeast notes. It can either be poured carefully off the lees or alternatively with the lees mixed in if a strong yeast character is desired. Moa Methode is a complex pilsner best served in a pilsner glass at approximately 6˚C to maximise aromatic release.

Yellow gold with a decent thick white head. Citrus lemon and spice dominant in aroma, some bready yeast notes there too. Crisp bitterness and light sour bread. Light pepper, spice and citrus finish, great refreshing pils.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2017
Pours hazy pale golden with a medium-sized frothy head with some lacing. The nose has notes of citrus, apricot, and bright tropical fruits with a hint of caramel. While it is mildly bready up front, the bitterness kicks in in the mid-palate along with the bright fruit notes and some earthiness and peppery spiciness. It transitions into the slightly resiny, yeasty dry finish smoothly while the bitterness intensifies. This is not a pilsner - the carbonation is too fine, the body is too full, the hops are non-noble, and the finish isn’t clean enough to give you the snappy pils feel. And that’s alright - there’s nothing wrong with having a distinct style.

Bottle pours a clear pale golden yellow with a huge white head. Spicy citrus aroma bordering on Belgian yeast esters like a Belgian blond. Taste of dry citrus hop with a light spice, light grassy hops, dry malt, with Belgian yeast esters. Few to no pilsners qualities, closer to a Belgian blond or Belgian pale ale.

tombutlin (313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - APR 26, 2017
This was served as a palate cleanser after some pretty headstrong fresh hopped IPAs and a 16% imperial stout. Hardly surprising that it stacked up like a dandelion in a hurricane. It did cleanse the palate, I guess, but was entirely forgettable.

On tap at Moa. Biscuit, tart lemon, floral. Quite cloying, pretty much the opposite of crisp. Not great.

A nice beer to enjoy in small or medium quantities. One of the better beers available in New Zealand for any such occasion. Not too overpowering for a German style pilsner which is very pleasing.

12.7 oz. bottle. Gold color with a huge foamy white head that exhibits excellent retention. Heavy lacing. Aroma of pils malt, citrus and spice. Taste follows nose. Orange peel and bread. Finish is lightly bitter, peppery and dry. Good.

Draft: Very mild lemongrass nose. Cloudy amber, headless. Honey, corn, some DMS, grass. Medium body, easy carbonation. Drinks stronger than an ordinary pils, more like an IPL. Probably past its prime.

Bottle. Poured a hazy yellow color with an averaged sized head. Grass, citrus, and some yeastiness.

Bottle at the Pumphouse, Richmond, corked
Deep blond color, hazy, with medium sized head. Pilsner? Tastes like a dry and spicy Ale, bitter, also some esters, a bit of cork that complements the flavor.
Nice.
