Moa St Josephs is a classic Belgian Tripel. Strong spice, caramel and banana ester characters create complex flavours and aromas which are heightened by its extended bottle conditioning period. The combination of bittering hops, malt and candy sugars compliment the high alcohol content and integrate into a very approachable and drinkable Tripel.

Tasting Notes
Moa St Josephs is a true abbey style tripel with strong clove and spice flavours apparent with a noticeable fruit ester profile. Smokey phenolic characters can be detected. The bitterness is designed to be complimentary rather than dominant. Moa St Josephs is a complex beer that has no added herbs or spices, and is best served at approximately 8˚C in a tulip glass.

A: Delicious! Lots of caramel! A: golden, white foam, frothy, T: heavy cloying sweetness, but I like it! P: full body, creamy, O: The star of the night!!

ttoadee (1664) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUL 11, 2015
Cloudy, light brown pour, no head (even with encouragement). Nose is cherry, yeast, and booze. Middle is caramelized grain and some spice. Finish is orange and alcohol. Just OK.

R4N5H (1374) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 5, 2015
Beerfest Asia, Singapore on 25/06/15. 50cl corked bottle, shared. Hazy golden colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, some spices, but sweet. Floral notes on tasting, with an overpowering sweetness. Yeast and fruit in the background. Just too sweet to be enjoyed - I like candy, and I like beer, but not together! Tastes like a sweet sparkling wine.

XCaellaX (28) - Bramois, SWITZERLAND - JUN 2, 2015
50cl bottle from FreshChoice Roslyn, NZ. Hazy yellow/gold color with an average white head. Aroma: lightly malty, spices, alcohol, sugar. Flavor: moderate sweet. Medium body, oily without carbonation. (Bad) Alcohol/phenol finish. Not a good triple...

UXO (1896) - CANADA - MAY 28, 2015
Pours hazy medium gold with one finger of rocky white head, good retention and lacing. (3/5) Nose is yeasty, dark fruit, caramel/toffee malt, banana and clove. (5/10) Taste is moderate sweet, very mild bitter. (5/10) Medium to full body, prickly carbonation, off-dry boozy finish. (3/5) Meh. Slightly past its best before, OK, but I dunno how much better it would be fresh. This is the type of triple I don’t really prefer: malt-forward and fuller-bodied, instead of crisp and dry. The ABV is intrusively present as well, with the heat feeling like an unbalanced afterthought. Couldn’t be bothered to finish it. (10/20)

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2015 Hazy in appearance with yeast at bottom. Smells like bananas and bread. A strong taste of bananas up front and in after taste. Very little clove flavour. Bready with a slight sour dough taste. Little to no hop flavour. Nice mouth feel. Slight alcohol warmth. For $6.99 NZ for a 500ml bottle at 9.5% this is a very good deal!

tombutlin (370) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 17, 2015
Very disappointing. I guess I’m not the target market, being a hop-head, but this was barely drinkable. Sickly sweet and caramel flavours with dominant alcohol. Tasted like Lion Red spiked with a double shot of cheap vodka. Looked great, but that’s all.

waiake (606) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - APR 24, 2015

Hazy golden with thin head. Floral , malty aroma with notes of grape, alcohol and bubblegum. Yeast , spices , fruits ... Looks like a good taste , but sweetness is overwhelming as for tripel.

Muzzahops (9) - NEW ZEALAND - MAR 13, 2015 does not count
