Can in NYC with Chris. Pours clear, red-brown with a weak, fading tan head. Brown bread in the nose, hints of cocoa and earth. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly toasted bread, some dry leaves. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Moderately sweet finish, some earthy and leafy bitterness, toast. Pretty bland overall, though not offensive.

On tap @ Moat Mountain. Light reddish brown colored beer with a thin off-white head. Has a nice roasted malt and cocoa character right away. Slight acidity to the finish, but otherwise good toffee sweetness, some toasted nuts, and plenty of bread. Minimal bitterness. Probably my favorite of their normal lineup.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is nutty, cookie and light chocolate malt, dates and figs with earthy hops. Flavor is sweet malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

DuffMan (10433) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 11, 2013
On tap at the brewpub. Medium amber brown. Dusty cocoa and light coffee aroma. More hop presence on the palate, medium-to-thin bodied. Decent moderately hoppy brown.

A sweet almond skin nose gives way to a bit of citrus hop juice...Apples recently dropped into wet earth...The flat appearance and very faint aroma take away from the potentially enjoyable pint of brown ale...

(Rating #1127)

Rich malt in the aroma. Taste is like a bread or biscuit. Reminds me of a brown and serve dinner roll. Went down smooth with high drinkability. Would order more pints if I had the time.

Draft pour. The beer is a clear copper with a beige head of foam. The aroma has toffee and nutty caramel notes. Fairly sweet taste. Medium body and medium carbonation.
