The base is mostly caramel malt and toffee. It displays an earthy pine or citrus hop in the finish. The caramel / toffee really over takes the hops. This doesn’t have any real issues to write about… just a very simple beer.
From the 16 fl. oz. can. An unfiltered amber-red color with a long-lasting cream colored head. Soft and lacing. Great toasted malt nose with a caramel/toffee sweetness to boot. Medium body that is also smooth. The toasted malts are up front but then this biting earthy bitterness roars in from behind and lingers on at the finish. Comes to the table a slightly hazy deep reddish brown with a decent sized ff white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aromas of caramel and light brown sugar with bits of earthy citrus hop. The flavor is lightly sweet dark sugary malt with plenty of earth and citrus to counter.Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. On tap at the source. Served in a shaker pint. Pours a deep earthy red with a one finger beige head. Sweet, malty aroma. Flavor is 90% malt with some earthy hop bitterness and the end. Sweet, but nicely balanced. Full bodied and smooth. Slight bitterness in the finish.

Bottle at home. Pours clear dark amber with a medium, frothy light beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is pine and earthy, spicy hops, caramel and toast malt with light pear fruity esters. Pours a birch beer colored red with thin lacing head. Aroma of sweet smelling earthy woodiness. Slighty bitter with a bit of a harsh yet sweet maltiness lending itself to a nutty taste and then ending with a wooden taste. A bitterness lingers afterward. Pours ruby-tinged mahogany into a Sam glass. Off-white soapy head recedes leaving spider lacing to mottle surface. Earthy manure, caramel and bread aromas. Sweet caramel and toasted nuts upfront turning to roasted pine in the lasting finish.
