On tap @ Moat Mountain. Black in color with a khaki head. Typical roast, licorice, and a touch of ash. Light in body and carbonation. Some bitterness and earthiness. Pretty minimal sweetness here. Has a sort of acidic, carbonic finish to it. Not really a fan.

On draft at the Smokehouse in North Conway. Nice, robust stout and a good finale on their taster paddle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the brewery. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt with earthy hops, dates and prunes with coffee notes. Flavor is dark malt dominant, light hops and medium bitterness with dark fruits and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

On tap at ACBF 6/1/2013 Roasty chocolate aroma and flavor with sweet caramel and a creamy smooth mouthfeel. Nice brew.

Pours black into a shaker. Mocha micro head with good retention recedes leaving thin sheets. Chocolate aromas. Dry with sweet milk chocolate upfront to back and into the lasting espresso finish.

oteyj (2139) - New Hampshire, USA - OCT 23, 2012
On tap at Beidermans. Jet black pour with no head to speak of. Chocolate brownie and hints of roasted barley give way to bakers chocolate and coffee. Medium to full body with excellent carbonation. I really couldn’t find anything wrong with this beer other than the pour- really delicious offering!

puboflyons (3400) - Allenstown, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 9, 2012
Off the tap at the brewpub. It poured dark brown top just about black with reddish hues around the glass’s edge when held to the light. The head was silky brown but short lasting. The nose cried out dark malts, coffee grinds, and a wonderful smokiness. The body was thinner than I prefer in a stout but suitable to the style. Boldness was a good was to define the flavor with similar coffee grinds, dark malts, and smoke there followed by a low but appealing bitterness.

Nice beer. Roasted malts, espresso and bitter chocolate. Light in the mouth with medium to low carbonation. Solid beer overall.
