Sample at the tap room. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that dissipates steadily to a film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of oak, fruit and chocolate malt. Medium body with flavors of oak, roast malt, chocolate and mild citrusy hops. The finish is oaky and fruity with a mildly hoppy aftertaste. Pour on tap at the brewery, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of oak, dark fruit, toffee, dark chocolate, hints of earth into a bit of roasted malt, some yeasty notes, touch of caramel. Taste was a mix of roast, chocolate, coffee into a bit of oak, vanilla, some slight earthy notes into some spice, finishing fairly dry, slightly bitter. cubs (10745) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 10, 2015
On tap @ the brewery. Black appearance with a dark brown, lasting head. Orange gummies, candy, melon, mango, and Tang in the aroma. Pretty unique aroma. Medium light body. A hint of roast and light oak/coconut but the tropical fruit / citrus fruit qualities are in the forefront here. Lots of mango and clementines. This is kind of fun. On tap at the brewery. Pour is deep, murky brown with a big tan head and great lacing. But piney and floral aroma - some grass, heavy oak, light grapefruit a, a touch of roast and bread. Taste is big pine cones, sweet orange peel, cocoa nibs, light coffee, toasted malt, somewhat earthy and peach skins with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Tasty Black IPA. ajnepple (7739) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - JAN 20, 2015
