Typical Corona type pale lager. This one is roughly the same, but it does have that slightly sweet crispy finish.

Not bad for a Mexican beer, but like all other Mexican beers Iíve tried, you practically have to stick a whole lime in it to make it interesting (breaking a man law of fruiting the beer, I know, but what can ya do?). Went great with the enchiladas, rice, and beans! Overall, good, but nothing to write home about.

Like most the classic Mexican beers the colour and smell are nothing special. I like it beter than Corona a little smoother and a lighter carbonation.

I needed another beer to round out a purchase I was making, so I grabbed a tallboy of this stuff. Heck, Iíve always liked anything and everything Mexican, so why not? The can is really handsome--a tall, white column with sharp blue lettering, a clean and memorable design. The can pours with a nice, foamy head that sinks down to a moderate level and lingers well. Some lacing, too. The color is a medium gold. Carbonation OK, many small bubbles. The aroma was sourish, as is typical of pale lagers, with a faint wheaty scent.
Palate on the watery side, with some slight fizz. The taste is undistinctive and rather bland, with little bite. Despite the high ABV rating, this didnít give me much of a kick. Little real trace of hops, at least in the can I had. A smooth beer, no rotten dregs. I have been reading the wonderful comic strip "Locas" (Love and Rockets) lately, and the Mexican-American kids in it drink a brew called "Vatoís Gold," a vato being your average guy on the street. This is essentially Vatoís Gold. Itís better than a BMC, it goes down easy and wouldnít be bad on a hot day with your tacos, and you get a fair amount for the money. Itís an average pale lager. You can do a lot better, but you can do a lot worse, too.

Mexican piss. But it reminds me of the beach, so that brings itís value up about a quarter of a point (I donít like the beach). I just drank it out of the can, no need in dirtying a glass.

33 cl bottle. Bland faintly hoppy aroma. Golden in colour with a white head that disappears quickly. Bland hoppy lager taste. not unpleasant but very run of the mill. Dry hoppy finish.

Light in color and all else. This is also a horrible brew. A little straw in flavor and aroma.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Itís a pretty simple brew, with a nice sweet finish. There is really not much to it, but itís pretty refreshing. It would really hit the spot on a hot summer day.

Bottle from my dad. Pours a typical pale golden with a white head. Pale malt and straw aroma. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Bready and corn flavors, but with a detectable amount of bitterness. One of the better mexican pale lagers.
