COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer thats incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

This beer we tasted and it tasted like it was missing. The added coffee and coconut are too minimal. Cheers from Cannery Row Beer Club. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft @ Hyatt Recency LAX. Nice roasty, coffee aroma. Black colour with reddish highlights, beige head that fades with good lacing. Flavor is a little sweet, roast, coffee...delicious. Med body, lively on the tongue. Overall, a very smooth, drinkable stout.

High quality espresso aroma. Light and malty for a stout, but the coffee is there. Ink black color with a huge tan head. Tastes like good iced coffee. Malty, creamy, not a lot of roast. Weak and watery palate. Well made but I dont like my stouts this light.

UPDATED: MAY 18, 2017 On tap at St Augustines in Vancouver. A black beer with a moderate tan head and a nose of chocolate and coffee. This is confirmed on tasting. Sweet, creamy chocolate and coffee notes. Very smooth. No bitterness detected. Nice. 4

1 pint can. The beer is very dark brown with auburn highlights. It has a very thick and creamy beige cap that is long lasting. The aroma has notes of rich coffee and roast. Taste - big black coffee with burnt sugar. Roasty and coffee packed finish. Bitter roasty finish. Great stout.

16 oz can poured. Holding my tradition to drink coffee beers during the morning home brew sessions. Black pour, patchy fizz head. Huge chocolate and coffee. Expected this much coffee, not so much on the chocolate. A pleasant surprise. Love these mocha stouts. Caramel, chocolate, no real bitter finish. Fantastic.
