COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that’s incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Pint sized can as a gift. Aromas are roasted malts and black coffee with smooth notes of caramel and chocolate. Pours a black body with a foamy beige head. Taste is roasted malts with black coffee and chocolate as well as subtle caramel. Quite creamy and smooth. Good stout.

Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy brown head that lingered forever and left decent lacing. The aroma was dry, roasty, toasty, woody and had a coffee note. The flavor was bitter, dry and roasty with wood and coffee. Long finish. Medium body. Decent.

Backlog entry prior to closing out 2017. Well rounded, as expected. Nothing too unusual.

Pint can. Coffee aroma with notes of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Pours black with a huge mocha brown head that has excellent retention and some lacing. Starts with roasted malt and dark chocolate flavors as well as a rich, full body and silky smooth mouthfeel. Finishes dry, but quite smooth with robust coffee flavors that linger on the palate after each sip. Not a huge coffee fan, but this one isn’t too bad.

Number 18 in the Beer Gonzo advent calendar. Dark with quickly vanishing beige head. Medium body. It’s obviously coffee led but well balanced, with a range of coffee flavours from smooth to bitter, plus oats, caramel and a touch of dark fruit.
