COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that’s incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish. But Black House packs all that flavor into a reasonable package: at only 5.8% ABV, it can comfortably be consumed by the pint.

Exquisite beer - delicate yet intensive, quite full (probably owing to oat malts) but still a regular stout (5.8 abv), sweet with medium roastyness. Coffee is discernible but is dominated by general dark malts notes. Feels like a great liquid cocoa cake. Awesome!

473ml can. Pours an opaque black with a small, creamy, long lasting, tan head that laces. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and light caramel. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate and light ash with a dry, bitter coffee finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.

Deep dark brown hue under a gin light tan head. Nice semisweet roasty black malt nose with a touch of coffee undertones. Big full nutty toasty black malt flavor with a touch of cocoa and light coffee. Smooth and robust and semisweet and cocoa’d.

Very malty; roasty coffee, espresso, roasty malts, oaty, grainy, chocolate, more coffee, caramel. Fruity; dark fruit notes. Good hop bitterness. Bittersweet roast coffee malty throughout. Enjoyable. Lovely Coffee Stout. (2017-09)

Pours black with a red tint, small off white head. Aroma is a nice sweet, strong coffee, vanilla. Taste is a lovely kick of coffee at the front, leading to a slight sweet hit, ending with a slight bitter finish with a nice roast coffee finish that lingers. Medium-thin bodied, medium-high carbonation. Lovely stuff, great coffee flavour, a coffee stout done right!
