Fortunate Islands shares the characteristics of a hoppy IPA and an easy drinking wheat beer. A massive dose of Citra and Amarillo hops gives it a blastwave of tropical hop aromatics: mango, tangerine, and passionfruit all leap out of the glass when poured. Brewed with 60% wheat malt, Fortunate Islands also has the mild, nutty malt backbone, reasonable ABV, and restrained bitterness to make it an outstanding session beer.

Pale wheat ale? IDK, this is more like IPA, dude. From the start its hazy pale, like NEIPA. Lots of good lacing. Smell is bordering on BO IPA nose. Does everything have to be IPA today? Go figger. Hey ho, lets go, IPA! Taste is APA bordering on IPA. Not as bad as many IPA and it comes across quite well mannered inteh middle. Bitter, none the less, especially in the finish.

Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a murky orange-peach color with a huge foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was faint but had notes of earthiness and body odor. The flavor was bitter, earthy and off with citrus, funk and body odor notes. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pretty awful.

From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Corbet’s on December 18. 32 oz crowler. The pour is a nice bright golden yellow orange with a thick cap of light tan colored head and a good bit of lace as she falls down. The aroma is nice. There is a big time bitterness to it up front and a bright citrusy juiciness. I like it. There is a bit of a tropical fruit and then the bitter resin kicks in. The flavor is much of the same. The bitterness is surprising for something with this color. The bright citrus and lighter tropical fruitiness really work well with it and leave a good flavor. The mouth feel is light and clean with a bright carbonation and a lingeringly bitter citrus on the finish. This one is pretty good. 7 4 7 4 15

Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Bold aroma of tropical citrus and piney hops. Crisp, light, and refreshing. Flavors are somewhat mild with a grassy herbal taste and some light citrus. Smooth finish with a light bitterness and a lingering grassy aftertaste. Pretty refreshing and enjoyable but not that great.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade. Hazy amber colored with a medium sized white head. Fruity aroma of hops and pine needles. Fruity flavor of hops and pine needles. Hoppy finish.

Can from Beer Republic. Hmmm, could be fresher. Aroma is grainy malt, mild fruity hops, citrus, caramel, straw, tropical notes with grapefruit. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and mildly bitter with a fairly dry finish. Body is medium. Easy and pretty sessionable with fruity hops and grains.

10-09-17 // draft, tasting paddle at BrewDog Shoreditch. Hazy golden yellowish beer. Light bodied. Yeasty wheaty, mild orange and Lemon Aroma, even some hints of Tropical fruits. Great beer.

1 pint can. Canned on: 05/23/17. A cloudy amber pour with a thick beige head. Almost smells like an APA - grapefruits, zesty citrus rinds, some pine, light floral notes, and a sizable presence of wheaty grains. Goes down thin and surprisingly crisp given the date on the can. No surprises taste-wise - grapefruits, zesty citrus rinds, semi-sweet wheaty grains, and floral qualities abound. Guys who bring cases of this to family vacations should be respected and adored!

Pint can. Bright tropical fruit aroma with notes of mango, passionfruit, tangerine and wheat malt. Pours hazy, pale golden colored with a two fingers of off white head that as excellent retention but no lacing. Starts with bright tangerine citrus and wheat malt flavors. Finishes with bright mango and passionfruit flavors with more tangerine citrus and acidity. Really nice pale ale.
