You’ve made a discovery – a Golden Helles from the original Lager House build by Christian Moerlein in Cincinnati’s Brewery District over 150 years ago. Today, Moerlein Lager House is brewed to the same standards that declared it the first American Brew to pass the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law. This Munchner-styled Helles is a balanced lager featuring a lightly toasted, yet defined malt character and a touch of hops for a clean finish. Moerlein Helles features a deep golden color, 2-row and Munich malt, Hersbrucker hops, averages 5.2% alcohol by volume with an original gravity of 13 and bitterness units of 19.

Bottle. Pale pour with thin white head. Light hop grass aroma. Thin flavor, there is no adjunct in this but it tastes like extract is used. Non satisfying finish.

Clear, rich gold with a frothy white head. Corn, sweet grain aroma. Honey malt, soft, light....grain/bread taste. Not spectacular, but ok. Rather weak, though.

12oz bottle. Pours a light golden orange, with an average foamy white head. Light aroma of caramel/toffee notes, and not much else. Taste of mostly sweet caramel malt, some floral hops, and a bit of honey.

chinchill (5377) - South Carolina, USA - AUG 9, 2013
12 oz bottle. Pours clear, golden with a moderate size head that has weak retention, Fairly nice aroma of sweet and light roasted malts. Flavor is true to German style heles with no noteworthy faults or strengths. Medium-light body; lightly crisp carbonation; slightly dry finish.

Bottle pour. Darker gold with not much head. Aroma is sweet grainy, and a touch bready. Tastes the same. Not my thing, I guess.

bottle. clear gold. rich pale malt, almost nutty, aroma. flavor is, again, rich and robust. nice, clean, grassy hersbrucker. medium bodied. the flavorful, rich, malt is balanced nicely with the clean hop addition.

I confess to not being to interested in the style to begin with, but this is not a very good version of it. Lots of grass hop of front, but mostly it’s got that classic wet cardboard taste and body.

Pours a clear golden yellow with a white head and aroma of grains and malt. Taste is of grains, malt, and bread notes. Very light and not much good flavor

Pours a very unappealing pale golden color with a small head. Nose is an annoying lager smell of grains. No flavor and boring. Finishes like every lager , not wanting to finish it.

I think this is the beer they are serving as the Helles at the Reds ballpark. Golden beer with a thin white head. Light corny sweetness in the nose, but it was out of a plastic cup at a ballgame.... Not the best place to judge a nose. Sweet beer with lots of canned corn, white sugar and some white bread. A hint of lemon grass in the finish, but mostly just sweet. Good for ballpark beer, but not great beer. Go Reds.
