A little tart on the tongue; this isn’t as smooth as some other Helles I’ve tasted. It could be likable, but isn’t so much my thing. It is the first beer from this brewer that I’ve tasted and if my 2nd isn’t any more likable than this I won’t keep trying them. smith4498 (3697) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - OCT 19, 2009

Name: Lager House Helles
Date: August 08, 2009
Source: Tasting, Ticker
Appearance: clear light gold, fine white head, bits of drippy lace
Aroma: sweet malt aroma, light spicyness, light earthyness
Flavor: sweet malt flavor, candy character with a light worty character, light balancing earthy bitterness
Aroma: 5/10; Appearance: 6/10; Flavor: 5/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 10/20
Pour Form a 12 oz bottle. Deep gold color with a white head that soon dissipates. Pleasant aroma of malt and flowery hops. Flavor is an exceptionally good balance of sweet light malts with a distinctive hops bitterness. Fine finish with an excellent hops smack on the back of the tongue and lingering, pleasant, bitterness. Good mouthfeel with active carbonation. I picked up a 6 pack of this while passing through Cincinnati recently. A very good, very solid brew. Will have to look for it here in Michigan. drowland (9184) - Georgia, USA - AUG 14, 2009
Unfortunately I didn’t take good tasting notes beyond the numbers for this puppy.

12oz twist-off bottle. Golden pale color. Aroma of skunky hops. Cold, cool and crisp. Refreshing malt. Followed up by a bold hop bite. A very nice session beer. yum to Lagers. ChainGangGuy (4941) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - AUG 9, 2009
Appearance: Pours out a clear, yellow body with a thin, white head. Simple and honest, do if I had a lovely, scantily-clad assistant to shout "ta-da!" I may be more enthusiastic.
Smell: A bit of a weak nose, really, with only mild, transient notes of lightly toasted malts, floral hops, and thinly sliced apples.
Taste: All the light pale maltiness one would expect as well as a thin trace of toasted breadiness and slight honeyish sweetness. Fruity spritz of Yellow Delicious Apple juice. Floral German hops with a light bitterness. The finish is appropriately drying, but kind of empty in terms of taste, like a movie that ends oddly abruptly.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.
Drinkability: A fine, serviceable lager when it comes to light, easy drinking, but, for me, I’m left wanting just a skosh more in the flavor and aroma department. Next time I’d like to see a little more, Moerlein. shp555 (2024) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - AUG 8, 2009
Pours a nice golden color with a white head. Aroma is caramel, honey, vanilla, a touch of toast, and some spicy hops. Flavor is honey, caramel, some vanilla, toast, and light bitter earthy spicy finish. Rynoplasty (700) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JUL 7, 2009
Pours honey golden with a small off white head. Aroma is bready malts. Flavor is the same. Not bad, I think I like the old Moerlein stuff better though, especially considering how much cheaper it used to be. phaleslu (10899) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 30, 2009
UPDATED: AUG 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle from Baba Budan’s in Cincinnati. Gold pour with a little haze and no head. Aroma of straw, hops, malt, and yeast. Flavor follows suit. The straw aroma and flavor were surprisingly dominant in this one. Light body, and very active carbonation. Dry and crisp with a mild hop aftertaste. Second rating (up from 2.9).
