(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, burnt rubber, black-currant, dried figs, orange peel, sweet soy sauce, some chocolate and a touch of brandy. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, figs, raisins, orange peel, brown sugar, a touch of tamarind and a balanced resiny bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. It’s not really shy, but not quite as over-powering as suspected.Tasty and fairly well balanced. Nice one. Bov (13354) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - APR 22, 2016
courtesy of Antonio Rey - hazy ruby-brown beer with no head retention; aroma of prunes, cherries, bubblegum, ripe banana; solid sweetness, full-bodied, very bitter; aftertaste of caramel and prunes - the alcohol is quite hidden dodskenta (127) - Rönninge, SWEDEN - NOV 18, 2015
2013 bottle. dark amber with a small tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, dark fruits, pine, bready malts. Very nice. Flavour död not dissapoint, starts off very sweet, dark syrup, dried fruits, further back you the the piney, bitter hops, some alcohol too. Nice and oily texture, full mouthfeel and lingering sweetness backed up with the piney hops. Not a whole lot of carbonation as one could expect. 2 years has mellowed this beer out. Wish I had more.. tderoeck (10617) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 17, 2015

Clear red to amber beer, small irregular yellowish aery head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, malty, caramel, fruity, raisins, some green banana, bit sugary. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: some strawberry jam, little bit of citrus, sugary, fruity hops. Aftertaste: lemony touch, bit hoppy, caramel, sweet malts, very nice!
Bottle. Pours a hazy light brownish colored beer with a small off white head on top. Aroma is very hoppy, some grapefruits, loads of malts, sugars, dark fruits and a touch of boozyness. Flavor is quite bitter and quite sweet. A typical example of an American Barleywine, with influences of both hops and malts. The aftertaste is quite sweet, boozy and fruity. Starts off fairly prickly and bitter. Nice in balance. Carbonation is low in this one, yet full bodied. Good stuff!!

Got this from Systembolaget, Sweden, in Dec 2013. Black with very small head and practically no bubbles. Fantastic smell, almost impossible to describe, caramel, sweet, raisins and phenol in a dark mild and amazing blend. A hint of resin and herbs, Taste is complex and well mixed, sweet in fine concert with bitterness, dry fruit, caramel, liquorice root and a mild tone of alcohol. Round and full body, very well balanced and almost mild. Finish is very long with a extremely fine balance between bitterness and sweet alchohol. Amazingly hard to fully understand, analyze and describe. Fantasy trigging. A very good Barley Wine. I kept this bottle in my beer cellar for more than two years - and it was worth every day of waiting. Why didn’t I save a few more bottles? _angst_ (5009) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - NOV 2, 2014
Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours dark amber with a small frothy goldenish beige head that leaves a small spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and slightly fruity with caramel, sweet dark bread, cereal, raisins, dates, mango, dried papaya, resinous wood, moist soil, pine needles, orange zest and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, slightly fruity, slightly earthy and tiny boozy with caramel, sweet dark bread, golden syrup, honey, grapefruit rinds, orange zest, dried tropical fruits, resinous wood, pine needles, moist soil, liquorice root and hints of burning alcohol. Mouthfeel is round, sticky, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter, slightly fruity and slightly earthy with caramel, sweet dark bread, honey, resinous wood, pine needles, grapefruit rinds, raisins, dried tropical fruits, moist soil and alcohol. Very nice American Barley Wine. Held on to my bottle for about 6 months so it’s showing some pleasant signs of oxidation. Would have loved seeing this forgotten for about a year in a bourbon barrel. The aroma is quite heavy and thick from sweet malts, hops and dried fruits. The flavor follows the aroma but adds some notes of butterscotch, plums, caramel leading into a alcoholic tickle on the tongue. The aftermath is warming and pleasant. It’s not the best barley wine around, but it sure is decent and well balanced. Easy to drink if you are kinda new to the style. BiffNilsson (270) - Perstorp, SWEDEN - OCT 10, 2014
