Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some slight alcohol and actually not all too balanced. Flavour is alcohol, sweet alcohol, some ripe fruits, mild liquorice and mild floral notes. At 17.2 % it’s quite blasting, but still somewhat drinkable.

Bottled, at NK ölbar, Stockholm. Hazy dark brown, minimal head. Boozy bourbon aroma. Sweet with really full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Slight salty chocolate, notes of espresso, plenty of bourbon. Heated finish. Potent, yet with balance. One of the better super strength beers I had lately. madmitch76 (25568) - , Essex, ENGLAND - FEB 12, 2014

Bamberg Bash Day 2. Cafe Abseits tasting. Somewhat plastered now! A 17.2% barleywine is just the ticket! Hazy deep amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Crispy palate. Spicy sweet malt, bourbon - vanilla and caramel. Light dry finish. Drinkable!
Bottle shared at Cafe Abseits during the Bamberg Jolly - January 2014. Cheers! Pours lightly hazy golden brown with a foamy, off-white head. Decadent and ballsy, but very good. Lots of heavy bread, fruitcake, caramel. Full bodied with chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with gooey fruits, toffee. Good stuff in small doses. fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 13, 2013

Dark brown color with generous creamy head. The aroma is mild but elegant, with some malt, vanilla, oak, raisins, alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel, immediately warming because of the alcohol content, but not boozy; excellent malt flavor, very sweet but not cloying, with a good share of dark and of dry fruits; the bitterness is also very high, with plenty of hop resins and some bitter oranges. The final is hot, but still full of flavors.
Extreme, but dynamic and very pleasing.
Day 2 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, Cafe Abseits Tasting bottle thanks to Andy Snow (I think?), 25/01/14.
Dark mahogony brown with a moderate beige head that dissipates to spotting.
Nose is booze forward, earthy, dark fruit, cocoa, slightly musty, dark toffee.
Taste comprises toffee fudge, mineral notes, dark fruit, booze well evident and a little on the harsh side but not massively so ABV considered.
Full full bodied affair, fine carbonation, warming booze in the finale.
Decent enough for 17.2% but not something I’d rush back to !
