Both aromas and taste of roasted malts, licorice, grapefruit and pine. Nice balance between the roasted malts and the piney, citric hops.

hackobock (4008) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 17, 2012
Bottle from Systembolaget. almost no fizz from the carbonation when opening. Color is dark brown, a small brownish dense head. Aroma of roasted malt, some licorice, citrus and pineapple. Taste starts off with some low hop notes followed by roastiness, taste is very settle without any punch neither from the hops nor the darker malts. The sweetness is balanced off with a mild dry long-lasting bitterness that increases. Medium body and low carbonation. I expected more from the aroma and flavor but it is a very good easy drinkable beer.

330 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a small creamy brownish white head that slowly dissipates while clinging to the glass. Smell is sweet and slightly roasted with toast, caramel, coffee, orange marmalade, pine, grass, dark bread and wood. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and tiny metallic with roasted malts, burnt toast, coffee, bitter chocolate, pine, wood, resin, grass, hazelnuts, tobacco and liquorice. Mouthfeel is soft and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with coffee, pine, hay and marzipan.

Bottle, pours black with medium tan head. Aroma is roasted malts with chocolate, some coffee, some tobaco and some hop notes like tropical fruits and citrus. Taste is hop character first with tropical fruits and some grape then comes the roasted malt with coffee and tar. Medium body and carbon. Overall an nice BIPA, not the best ive hade. Would have liked more hop flavours in it.

Mad_Ferret (1015) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 16, 2012
Bottle. Pitch black with a medium big dense beige head that lace nicely. Bitter herbs, licorice, spruce and grapefruit with some underlying chocolate and a hint of caramel sweetness on the nose. Kind of the same notes in the flavor with a more salmiak touch that gets balanced nicely by a light caramel sweetness with some chocolate in the aftertaste. Also some salty leather notes. Herby bitter aftertaste with some chocolate. Medium bodied with soft small tickling bubbles. nice, balanced and very drinkable!
