Really dark brown colour with a tight, creamy head. Really sweet aroma of tropical fruit & hop. Some bitter burnt malts come through in the aroma too. Initial flavour is fresh, sweet and hoppy. Aftertaste gives a nice lingering bitterness as the hops and the roasted malts take effect.

Black and subtle red colour with almost no head. Wonderful hoppy and fruity aroma. Well balanced and nice flavour with lots of hops, some licorice and leather and fruity! Lovely beer.

Bottle (33 cl) from Systembolaget. Dark reddish brown with medium beige head. Piney, citric and slightly perfumy hop aroma with notes of oranges and tangerines, and some roasted coffee notes. Medium bodied and smooth. Dry with medium to high bitterness. Very good Black IPA.

33cl bottle courtesy of and shared with gnoff. BB 23/08/2012.

0.33 L bottle. Thanks Cunningham, for the treat! Near black with dark brown highlights. Tan big-bubbled head. Initial aroma of fruity US hops, followed by a clean and subtle whiff of toasted and light chocolate-scented dark malts. Amazing! Clean, light roasty and chocolatey malt body. Bold fruity bitterness. Well-bodied. Juicy mouthfeel. Lingering fruity-bitter ending. Nice all over, the best BIPA i’ve had so far.

330 ml bottle, rated from backlog. Near black with small off white head. Aroma and taste of licorice, citrus, vanilla, chocolate, faint spice and lots of hops.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, citrus, choklad, salmiak, grapefrukt, tall, bröd och rostade toner. En frisk och välbalanserd svart IPA. Fruktig, lagom sötma med tydlig beska med smak av grapefrukt och tall.

330ml 2014 years vintage brown bottle, with a simplistic designed black and white label. Appearance is opaque brownish black with a large tan foamy head with good retention, that when reduced left some lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, rye bread and lemon peels. Flavours of grapefruit, rye bread, caramel, lemon peels and a hint of liquorice. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is medium bodied, oily texture and average carbonation. Overall a great Black IPA, beers brewed with rye suit me perfectly, I think the rye spiciness complements the hops nicely.
