COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Famous for their Saison Ale, Brasserie Dupont is also renowned in Belgium for their Moinette. This sturdy ale has an herbal bouquet that indicates its well hopped character. But unlike its drier cousin, its body is fuller and rounder with a slightly sweet finish. Delicious before a meal and with foods like marinated meats and barbecue.

Nephilium (1821) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2007
(2006 bottle) A slightly sweet aroma with hints of dark fruits. Pours a reddish amber color, with a small off-white head. Interesting flavor, notes of wood, fruit, yeast, and a touch of alcohol. Long oak/bitter finish, fairly light in mouthfeel. Overall, a good beer, but not something I’ll go out of my way to find.

Aukedebier (34) - KAUTTUA, FINLAND - OCT 21, 2017
Bought from drankdozijn.nl in a 750ml bottle with cork. Appearance; medium brown, dark amber beer with a beige head which stays modestly thin. Nose; sweet malts, brown sugar mild hops and yeast. Taste; dates, raisin, brown sugar, an inch of caramel coffee, the Dupont-yeast with a mild bitter finish of the hops. As a big fan of the Dupont creations, I also like this one, for the dark rainy evenings next to the fire place. Maybe not the best of their family, but a welcome contribution.

Garrold (5518) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2017
Bottle, sat outside a neighbourhood bar in Maroles, Brussels. Pours a murky brown, with a thin, creamy, lasting, beige head. Nose has fig and dates. Caramel and chewy toffee. Some earthy hop character. All with the familiar, DuPont yeasty notes. Taste is chewy sweet, with moderate, earthy hop bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Decent balance of sweet and bitter on the finish.

Bottle pours hazy chestnut with a large lasting beige head. Aroma is candied fruits, vinous notes, chestnuts, spicy Belgian yeast. The flavor is nice but slightly subdued, little sweet, fruity, candy, little bitter on the finish. Good balance. The mouthfeel is smooth, medium full body, lively carbonation. Good, classically well-done.

12-09-2017; bottle; at home (bought at Saveur Bière, as part of their September discovery box). The looks of the beer are nice. The color of the beer is nice coper reddish brown. The beer has a nice haziness, but not to much. It is still possible to look trough it. On top some rough greyish foam is formed. Foam retention is low. After only a few minutes hardly any drape is left. Not bad, looks like a nice Belgian Dubbel beer. The smell of the beer is nice. It is a typical Abbey Dubbel. I smell nice sweet malts. There are aromas of syrup, candy sugar, caramel, a nice creamy touch. It reminds me a bit of the Rochefort beers. There is a nice herbal touch of the hops, not to strong, but it is nice in combination with the sweet, full and warming malts. The taste of the beer is also nice. Full and warming sweet malts, with nice touches of caramel, syrup, a nice yeasty creamy touch. It is very nice. It reminds me even more of Rochefort. I love Rochefort, so it's a compliment. Nice one. The beer is nice and balance, but the taste could have been slightly stronger. It is a tiny bit mild for my taste. The palate of the beer is nice. There is a nice medium body, smooth texture and a nice medium carbonation. The finish of the beer is rather mild. It has some sweet malts and some herbal hops. Not to much. All in all, a nice beer, but it has some room for improvement. In my opinion the taste could have been a bit stronger.

Bottle from Dario’s Brasseire. Pours dark brown with a thick khaki head. Leaves trace lacing in the glass. Lots of candi sugar and dark fruit on the nose and tongue. Lots of caramel malt as well. Hides it’s booze well. Solidly nice.

Jultsu (1185) - TAMPERE, FINLAND - JUL 26, 2017
BBE 02/2018. Punertava kuulas väri, iso hutera tiskivetivaahto. Tumma tummanmakea viinimarjaisa intensiivinen tuoksu. Suutuntuma kuohuva, makea, semihapokas, pallomaisen kuohuva, hyökkäävä hapokkuus, kuoharimainen kuivuus alkuun, pehmenee ja pyöristyy lämmettyään. Silti pientä metallisuutta, aika tylsä ja yksinuottinen pallo.

The Etruscan (704) - Tuscany, ITALY - APR 30, 2017
Dark beige head. Brown colour. Aroma is malty, fruity (raisins) with caramel and candy notes. Flavor is malty too with fruity (fig and dates) and licorice tones, ending in a moderately spicy and fruity finish. Medium bodied.
