My Bottom Line:
Fruity molasses, chocolate mousse and caramel delve into roasted malt and hop resin bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy veil of foam covers the cloudy brown.
-The nose hints at lactose use, but the flavor profile is much more dark malt driven.
-The malt flavors and sweetness do not perfectly flow into the finishing bitterness.
-The nose is quite dessert-like.
-Coffee bean touches appear here and there.
-This is relatively drinkable.

(Rating #4993)

Bottle at home. Dark brown red colour with big bubbly golden creamy head. Aroma is fruity and roasty. Think I can smell orange in there. Vanilla creaminess too, and a bit of smoke, really good. Taste is a bit different. Not what I got from the smell. Still roastiness and some bitterness too. Hint of fruitiness further down, and dark maltiness. Pretty nice.

Bottle mail order from the brewery. Very dark brown with orange tints, and a high, bubbly head. Chocolaty nose, with roasted malts, wood, mocha, cream. A bit too faint. Nice creamy flavor, cocoa, fudge, café au lait, good roast. Body a bit too light. Pretty darn tasty, though. Sweetness up front but not overdone.

Bottle in Room, Kooraku Hotel, Okayama. Clear very dark brown (not black) - offwhite head. Licorice, nice burned malts, some coffee bitterness, light body, light sweetness, dark chocolate. Too thin....
