Can. The following is a compilation of a dozen peoples’ thoughts who shared this brew with me at my first (and perhaps last?) Malt Liquor Dexterity Games Tournament to celebrate my birthday. Keeping in mind that most of the participants are not regular beer raters, here we go: pale-medium golden body, sweaty corny aroma, sweet corn and light compost, another Canadian gem of piss, does this come from the same tap? who would buy a case of this stuff for real, not good, Mike Honcho is alive, better than others tonight but what is that saying really?

(Rating #6606)

This one’s abv is at 6.1%. Pours a huge foamy white head and has a pale yellowish appearance. No lacing. Excessive carbonation. Aromas are extremely grainy. Flavours are malty and grainy, at least a little bit of flavour comes through otherwise quite a disappointment. Retention is not bad. Average mouthfeel. Not very good.

Can. Shared by Franky Boy, thanks! Clear yellow with a small quickly vanishing white head and no lacing. Aroma of corn, pilsner malt, sweetness notes and some vegetables/grassy presence. Taste is moderately sweet with pilsner malt, corn and vegetable. Thin body. Watery. Alcohol isn’t well hidden. The regular Black Label is better.

355ml can pours a pale straw color with a small white head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is cheap grains and hops. Taste is light malty sweet with a terrible hop bitterness that lingers. Below average for the style and not recommended.

Cannette 750 ml. 6.1%. Couleur jaune. Arôme pas grand chose, céréales. En bouche, c.r.ale et mais. Finale assez sèche. Inférieur à la Black normale.

Metalchopz (3474) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 31, 2011
Originally rated July 2006. Bought in a convenient store here on the Quebec side, and comes with 5.9% ABV in a 40 oz. bottle. Pours a lighter golden colour with a big white foamy head. Retention is not bad and so is lacing, with lively carbonation. The first scent that comes out of this beer is a chemical strong bitter alcohol aroma. Then, as it breath, a nose of malts with mild corn in the background sticks out. Watery mouthfeel with some stickiness. The corn is really apparent in the taste, especially the first chug. Then, everything is really smooth with a so-so dry finish. Not much offensive-wise, so decent for the drunkfest. But, if you are looking for a real dry beer, go for the Labatt Extra Dry.
