Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 10, 2012
Bottle: Abv 11%
Medium tan head, changes quick into an almost closed tan lacing on top of a deep dark ruby colored beer with some black tints.
Smell chocolate, fresh roasted and smoked malts, spices/herbs, hint of liquorice and something like grainy (light liquor) sweetness.
Taste Is pretty soft and creamy with a nice mixed bunch of ingredients like chocolate drenched hops, toasted barleys, smoked malts, nice bitter (nothing irritating to be detected, yes!), some spices and light warmth (alcohol notes), something light sticky, nice hoppy grassy touch and a gentle toasted light smokey grainy sprinkle on top.
all very gentle and very well balanced!
Spices, roasted malts, grass and chocolate bitter in the aftertaste.
Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and a creamy sticky texture.
Very good beer, though the smell is very nice, the flavours are not as strong but the spicy alcohol notes jumps out but not in an annoying manner.
If it wasn’t for the small info note here on Ratebeer, you could definitely classify this beer as an (Imperial) Stout. Alcohol is well hidden. Geokkjer (7627) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - FEB 18, 2011

Bottle 33 cl, Bierkoning. Pours black brown with a tense creamy tanned head leaving lace. Aroma is roasted malty, sweet, ashy, bready, spicy, dark syrup and molassis. Flavor is almost fullbodied, acidy, a bit phenolic, roasted malty, chocolate, coffee, a bit pungent, bitter and dry at the end. Has some smokey tones as well. Finishes dry, malty and bitter. Steady malty body, nice. Idiosynkrasie (7516) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 22, 2014
300ml bottle [Heer van Gramsbergen, 11.0% abv]. Darkest ruby red colour with average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Malty aroma has notes of dried fruit, raisin, plum, smokey notes in the background, a yeasty touch. Taste is initially dry, hints of dried fruit with subtle sweetness, later more and more smoky; long lasting, sticky finish with smoky notes, hints of ashes, ham, subtle chocolately sweetness. Rich and complex, full bodied, oily texture, sticky palate. Successful use of smoked malt in unusual context.

Nice clear chestnut and ruby with a small, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has smoke, raisins, caramel, Belgian sugar, light vinious, a soft touch of chocolate. Medium carbonation, fine dry and creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has roasted malts, quite a bit of smoke, astringent berries, vinious, warming, raisins, plums.Chewy sugary finish.
30cl bouteille, bb 09/2013.
Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. It pours a clear, ruby color and a finger-thick off-white to light beige head. Smoked nose, evident hops, those two sort of clashing together leaving an impression of sour milk. Not that sour milk is the dominant aroma, there’s just something similar going on. Meaty, coffee-like notes in the back, slightly roasted. Not really sure if I’m fond of it. Well, I think I do. It’s quite fruity too, mostly on the dried fruits side. The flavor starts quite meaty and coffee-ish, followed by dried fruits, bitterness, fruityness and smoke. Some strange notes of over-ripe strawberries too. In a nice way that is. It’s full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Smoked, bitter and sweet finish. Overall, a nice one, indeed, blending a lot of different flavors in a nice way. Strange, complex, tasteful and more-ish. Definitely one I’d like to have again. 110218
