750mL Bottle through Sake Club: Pours a milky white color with hints of beige around the edges; not too cloudy. The particles are small too, that’s good news for me. The nose is fresh and fruity with lots of melon and banana, an anise and maple snap as well. The impact is IMMENSE as the creamy chalky mouthfeel combines forces with the extremely dry body, impressive alcohol, and elevated acidity. This is a serious contender; no delicate beating around the bush here. This is probably what sake tasted like through the Edo period of Japan, maybe a little sweeter though. I can’t get past the acidity and alcohol though, this one definitely needs some sweetness to balance it out. The nose is good and the finish is alright, but that dry alcohol and acid impact on every sip is a little interesting. I wouldn’t say it’s a good thing, but certainly fun to try. So many styles in one sake.
