COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
What do Scotland and the American South have in common? An appreciation for good booze. But that doesn’t mean they always get along. We put our award-winning Drafty Kilt Scotch Ale in Kentucky bourbon barrels and let them duke it out in the cellar. Who won? You did. The chocolate, caramel and roasted malts in Drafty Kilt complement the charred oak and vanilla notes in the bourbon barrels quite well. Notice we didn’t say "compliment." Scotch and Bourbon still don’t send each other Christmas cards.

Aroma- Bourbon, dark fruit, caramel, nice oak character, and some chocolate. Second pour brought out some light tropical fruit and pine. Taste- Plum, caramel, and other dark fruits up front, followed by a wave of tropical fruit over a nice roasty backbone. Smokiness comes in toward the end with some light notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and pine. Ever so slight bourbon on the finish with a nice little burn. Sometimes dark cherry shows up as well. Dark chocolate, roast, and some pine comes out in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Dark rouge pour. Beige head. Small bubbles. Big wood and bourbon aroma. Sweet malt, syrupy. Taste is huge bourbon and wood. Malt sweetness. Brown sugar. Excellent. Warmth on the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not very strong bourbon barrel here in hsv. Thin head lasting ring. Very malty. Aroma is very much brown sugar as is flavor No Bourbon comes thru. Mouthfeel is decent. Lots of sugars. Meh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

6/22/16. On tap at Wrecking Bar. Amber pour with a nice tan head. Strong barrel, overwhelming, whiskey, vanilla. Same on the flavor, very strong barrel presence dwarfs anything else. Eh.

At Wrecking Bar Brewpub, the barrel was way heavy in this one and not particularly balanced well. Still a fine beer, but huge bourbon and vanilla dwarf the scotch ale aspects.

Not over done with the bourbon barrel. This is as much vanilla from the wood as booze from the bourbon. Meshes nicely with the malt.

Bottle. I savored this over an hour and a half one afternoon. Beautifully malty, sweet and caramel, vanilla and thin wood just right for those who don’t want to be overwhelmed with bourbon barrel flavor. I was only in Atlanta for a week and sampled at least 12 different beers in that time - wish I’d had more time.

Pours a dark cola brown with a tan-beige head. Caramel and oaky vanilla on the nose. Just not very assertive. Full body. Oaky vanilla, bourbon, and caramel off the rip, but everything dies too quickly. No richness that Carrie through, which would make all the difference in my opinion.

Pours medium brown with a quick tan head. Nose is strong oak with a touch of brown sugar and alcohol. the Bourbon flavor persists on the palate but there isn’t much distinction in the beer itself. very smooth but not much body. a little hot for only 8.5%. decent but could be better

10 oz draft pours a black with a small beige head. Aromas of roasted malt, bourbon, caramel. Full bodied, very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours near black with a lacy, beige head. Aroma of bourbon and oak and light spices, some caramel, roasted, and chocolate malts, light bitterness, and some dough. Flavor mainly of the bourbon, makes me wonder if this is actually aged in barrels or if they just dumped bourbon in it, or both? Smoother texture. A cool beer, but that’s because I also like bourbon.
