Can from Hop City Midtown quickly drained while doing queep work. Not sure how I tried the barreled version of this first. Overall a really tasty and true to category scotch ale. I honestly finished this before I thought to rate it so that says something about the drinkability. Very enjoyable. Ratman197 (15620) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - NOV 28, 2017
Can poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of toffee, cocoa and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of toffee, earthiness and cocoa with a smooth lingering earthy cocoa finish. k0mpsa (3172) - Tuusula, FINLAND - NOV 23, 2017

12 oz can poured into a pickle barrel: dark cola brown with ruby highlights. Smells of earthy scotch, toffee, dark syrup. I first taste whisky, caramel, burnt toast, then cocoa powder and campfire. Great beer. crossovert (14134) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 5, 2017

A dark ale with a sweet smell. It has a smooth taste with a light smoke flavor, not over powering at all. It is an excellent sipping beer and goes well as a night-cap.

Tasty Scotch ale, sweet but not too sweet, peaty but not too peaty, smokey but...you get the point. Caramel and biscuity malts form a solid base, while slight fig and bourbon notes underline an appreciably firm hop bitterness on the finish, the slightest wisp of smoke adding depth to the fade. Not all that pretty, and the aroma comes across subdued, but otherwise a solid beer. Better than my score suggests. tightslice (1527) - Redwood City, California, USA - JUN 1, 2017
On tap at Mellow Mushroom in Acworth, GA. Aroma is light caramel with some woody, leafy notes. Taste is mild caramel, some roasty malts and some earthiness. This seemed very weak, thin and overall a bit underwhelming for the style. voyageurmike (520) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 16, 2017
Sampler from Growler USA. Black and full bodied, creamy. Dark fruit and caramel taste. Bittersweet malt finish. kramer (6991) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 10, 2017
Pours a clear amber body with a frothy beige head. The nose is sweet toasted and caramel malt with a light hint of leafy hops. The flavor is a little weak, some caramel malt with just a hint of iced tea crystal malt on the finish. Not as smooth and chewy as I want for the style, fine fizzy carbonation. Meh, an ok effort, but not quite as substantial as I’d like for a Scotch ale.
