COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A roasty scotch ale with a hint of smoke. Full-bodied, but not overpowering. Smokey, but not in a creepy bar kind of way. Sweet, but not obnoxiously so. Sound like your ideal mother-in-law? Fair enough, but it also is a pretty dead-on description of our Scotch Ale. In a difficult hop-growing climate, Scottish brewers relied on other ingredients to impart flavor and bitterness – one such ingredient was smoked malt. Drafty Kilt is a dark, malty bombshell of a beer.

Brewed at Thomas Creek before the brewery opened.

Bottle. The wood really stands out in the bourbon barrel version, while the standard edition relies on its sweet malty caramel - wet and smoky.

Draft in Augusta. Good stuff. Dark brown pour. Mild aroma. Tastes more like dark amber but no complaints. Nor heavy or hoppy.

9/25/15. 12oz bottle, single, from Warehouse in Albany, GA. Amber pour with a small khaki head. Malty aroma, biscuit, caramel, toffee, a bitter nutty aspect. Good flavor, toffee, nutty, caramel, doughy, a bit of a bitter bite. Not bad.

Deep, clear ruby black-brown. Clingy almond head. Hoppy, sweet and tannic malty aroma. Very tasty, dark syrup, assertive hops, medium sweetness for style, some roast. Chewy. Stiff bitterness in the finish, along with a light astringency. Overall very good. Taco Mac, John’s Creek.

On tap at a restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. The pour is dark, opaque brown with a modest tan head that fades down and leaves lacing. Enticing sweet malt, peat moss, and light smoky aroma. Little in the way of hops. The body is medium but soft and delicate. Sweet malt taste with no booze and a light dry finish. I would like to get this one in my area.

Toasty aroma with some hop pungency. Taste is good with some nice chewy malt that has some good caramel qualities. Spicy hop backbone. Finishes with some nice biscuit. Very drinkable.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This beer has a big malt and grain aroma. The color is pure dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. The flavor is very rich and smooth. I liked this beer quite a bit and thought it was more than just a scottish ale.

Good, thick well balanced scotch that doesn’t go overly sweet. Some noticeable alcohol.
