12oz bottle. Small beige head atop copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, light peat, faint cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, light peat, earthy. Medium body, some stickiness. tillmac62 (749) - Gaffney, South Carolina, USA - MAR 5, 2015
Pours a clear rich dark ruby (when held to light). World Class head volume, lacing and retention.
Smells like a scotch ale should, but is a bit on the light side. Dark fruit (plum, date, raisin), molasses, light roast and a hint of smoke.
Medium bodied with a texture that has creamy aspects. Above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish.
The flavor profile is intense, complex, well balanced and is borderline outstanding. It begins with a sweet burst of molasses and dark fruit that quickly yields to a roast bitterness. Under the bitterness, caramel notes emerge in the middle. Subtle smoke characteristics emerge right before the finish, gain in intensity and come to the forefront as the finish fades over a subsiding caramel and molasses sweetness. In the lingering finish, prune notes are evident as well as a slight alcohol burn, subtle dryness and bitter pucker. BVery (10711) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 4, 2015
Bottle at my hotel in Atlanta. Dark cola-colored pour with a big carbonated head. Previous rater described cola in the taste - I totally get that. Maybe the higher level of carbonation? But also in the flavor profile - some molasses. Hint of smoke. Quite good. Errl (2442) - Plano, Texas, USA - MAR 3, 2015

12oz bottle, purchased from Habersham in Savannah on 2/23/15. Dark brown, near-black color. Good tan head, leaving good ridges of lace. Nice dark chocolate and moderate smoke flavor. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Good more full feel. Light slick finish. Moderate-plus bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Touch of butterscotch. Very solid tasty enjoyable balanced scotch ale. Nice bit of earthy hop to it.

Weevil, Augusta. Pitch black beer with a strong off white head. The aroma is gently coffee roasted, and the flavour is deeply roasted with plenty of bitterness and some molasses. Overall a nice strong ale.
Pours a super dark, transparent black ruby - orange color with minimal aroma and a thin head. Very rich & substantial malt profile that stays roasted & bitter throughout. The richness turns slightly sweet & easy to drink midway through the glass and is one of those beers that should be enjoyed cool, not cold. A very enjoyable big beer. Super malty and smooth. Notes of roasted nuts, grains, toffee and molasses. Hints of cocoa. dfinney23 (3394) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 16, 2014
Bottle pours dark brown with a finger of foamy head. No sign of smoke, leaving the sweetness too cloying. snoworsummer (5911) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 14, 2014
Draft at the TAP in Atlanta airport. Pours dark brown with a creamy bubbly beige head and lots of lacing. Tastes nutty, like alcohol, a little earthy and woody, rich maltyness. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like malt, roasted nuts, and booze.
