Very hazy amber beer, few bubbles for a head. Semi dry palate with very modest carbonation. Saison? Belgian Strong? More like a Barley Wine I think! Sweetish caramel malt with a little dried fruits. Aniseed alcohol and alcohol evaporating dryness. Mild minerals.
Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy amber, no head. Rich oak aroma. Sweet with plenty of arousing calvados. A bit fruity with some winegum, marzipan and pepper alcohol. Woody finish with notes of licorice. A fun extreme beer. Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 29, 2011
Bottle 25 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours a cloudy, opaque golden with a small off-white head. Sweet fruity nose with some notes of licorice allsorts. Very heavy body, sweet malts and caramel with a distinct sweet oaky edge. Heavy booze in the finish. Pleasant in small doses but probably gets cloying after a while. 290911 Leighton (22814) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 11, 2011
Bottle at Pat’s birthday tasting at chriso’s. Pours a very oily brown with a faint, off-white head. Brownies, chocolate, dark malts in the nose. Very sweet flavor with tons of dark malt character, notes of cocoa, booze, some raisin, caramel. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, sticky finish, roasted malts, chocolate cake. Not a saison in any way, but an excellent and dynamic beer none the less.
