Black colour with a small beige head. Licorice aroma. Flavour of roasted malt and licorice. BeerSkull (1372) - SWEDEN - SEP 15, 2011
Sweet smell and taste of roasted malt and licorice. Unfortunately is the taste a bit watery and simplistic. Certainly not a bad beer, but still something of a disappointment! anders37 (27588) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUN 1, 2011

Dark red to black color, brown head. Sweet scent, also some high alcohol tones. Acidic, malty, metallic, sweet taste. Licorice aftertaste, also sweet. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.
A bit too sweetish for my taste, might be the licorice that gets to me.

Black color; creamy head. Being the same batch as the Kaffe Portern, the body here is light as well; there is a backbone of roasted malts, and luckily the licorice is subdued. Dry finish. Not much interest here.
0.33 l bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Black color. Sweet licorice aroma with leather, apple and perfumed spiciness (anise). Sweet roasty flavor with coffee, licorice, apple and low bitterness. Good aroma. Bitterness is too low for a beer this sweet. I’m not a fan of licorice in beer. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - OCT 4, 2009

Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice, dark fruits, mild smoked notes as well as some mild syrupy notes. Flavour is roasted malts, liquorice and quite strong wooden notes. Pleasantly balanced.
(Draught at Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm, 2 Oct 2009) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate and liquorice. Malty, fruity taste with notes of roasted malt, dried fruit, chocolate and plenty of liquorice. Medium body, fairly sweet. Nice beer with an interesting liquorice twist.
