Received from GTH in our first trade together. Thanks Bosse! Pours a deep black with very little head formation, about a 1/4 fingers worth of caramel colored head. Nose is definitely of the Russian variety, it is heavy on the rich malt, dark fruit, and licorice. Flavor has a lot of similar themes to the nose, a lot of dark fruit and licorice. It is pretty dry as well. Mouthfeel is full, albeit a little thin. Carbonation is low and the beer coats the palate nicely. Nice beer! Not sure why this is called a Russian Imperial Porter as this is definitely a RIS, but it’s solid nonetheless.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

250 ml bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours dark reddish brown with a small gray head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace. Smell is sweet with chocolate, vanilla, prunes, alcohol, wood, dark bread, resin and hints of citrus. Taste is sweet, tart and bitter with ripe grapes, toasted malts, chocolate, alcohol, raisins and hints of coffee. Mouthfeel is vinous, tiny tart and full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, tiny sour and tiny dry with bitter chocolate, lemon zest, roasted malts and coffee. great nose but with a taste that leaves you disappointed.

pours black and muddy. low head wonderful aromas of coffe, figs, dades, raisins and alcohol medium creamy, slightly bitter roasted tones with a medium palate. It has a sweetness that stays on the front of the mouth for quite a while quite strong coffe bean tones, a bit too much alcohol taste overall a very good imperial porter
