Monks imperial porter. 250cl bottle courtesy of timo... Pours a medium
dark black stouty pour with a thin film of light tan head... Aroma of
roast, molasses, and bitter dark chocolate, touch of smoke... Flavors
are much of the same, thinner bodied, while the booziness really comes
through. Thinner bodied for such a big beer. Medium sweetness while
becoming bitter towards the middle and end.

Black with a small but firm head. Aroma is coffee, smoke, charcoal and lots of salty licorice. Flavour is more salty licorice, charcoal, not so much coffee but instead there’s some toffee and chocolate. warming finish. Well made and balanced.
Bottle. Very dark with faint red tints. Very hard to get anything you could call a "head" but in the end theres a nice little brown "film" on the surface.
Big complex and vinous aroma of burnt sugar, coffee, cacao, dark fruits, licorice root, wood, vanilla and a bit smoky whisky.
Taste is also big, burnt and vinous with coffee, cacao, licorice, dark fruits and molasses. Alcohol burns a bit in mouth and throat.
Medium to bigger body with a slick and slightly oily smooth mouthfeel. Almost no carbonation.
Much better than I expected it to be for some reason. It’s a bit rough and could do with some cellaring I guess. Still good now! tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - MAY 22, 2011
