as RIP3. Quite much black colour with not too much head. Aroma is roasted malts, some alcohol, caramel malts, some toffee, vanilla and slight hoppyness. Flavour is toffee, caramel malts, some fruits, roasted malts, mild liquorice as well as some smoked wet wood. Quite nice.
Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival. Near black, no head. Tar, chocolate and molasses dominates the aroma. Sweet and full bodied with dense mouthfeel. Some salt and tobacco, lots of molasses. Salty bittr finish. The alcohol is well hidde, but it feels rather basic and shallow. Molasses gets in the way. Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUL 25, 2011
Bottle 25 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Hard roast nose, loads of licorice. Solid body, carbonation is low, herbal, hard roast, heavy licorice, cough syrup, very boozy finish. Pleasant if not entirely sophisticated. 250711 Koelschtrinker (21489) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - DEC 11, 2011
Leicht oxidierter Beginn von dunklen cremigen aber auch bitteren Malznoten. Süß, röstig, säuerlicher Abgang, leichte Kaffeenoten. Ausgewogen, durch das süß-saure Spiel durchaus süffig. Harmonisches Imperial Porter! /11/12/12/12/12

The color is pitch black, with a medium sized brownish head; unfortunately there are slimy sediment blobs on the bottom. The deep aroma of roasted malt, with cream and smoke, is nice. The mouthfeel is quite smooth, and the body well constructed; very strong flavor, of roasted malt, chocolate, dark caramel, leather, and a clear presence of liquorice; the bitterness is very high too; the alcohol can clearly be perceived, but it helps to balance the body and the sweetness, and maybe it’s a bit too high in the end. The final is less interesting, being dominated by the alcohol, and with less structure. Very good.
SBWF 2010. Named RIP 3. Black beer with a small head. Malty vinous aroma, figs, raisins, chocolate, vanilla, milk chocolate. Vinous flavor, figs, chocolate, raisins, oily notes, licorice and tar. Great beer.
