COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mont Des Cats is a trappist abbey in Northern France, a few kilometres from the Belgian border. They do not have a brewery in their monastery, so their beer cannot show the Authentic Trappist Product logo. But it doesn’t get much closer – they have their beer brewed by the monks of Chimay!
Developed independently to the Chimay range, the beer is a lovely copper colour. The link to Chimay is evident in the distinctive Chimay yeast character, in both the aroma and taste.
A pleasant caramel malt sweetness introduces the beer, being joined by hints of dried fruits, gentle spices and an earthy, herbal hop character. As the beer progresses, the bitterness seems to build toward a nice lingering finish.
The abbey only makes one beer, with no intention for more. The abbey is recognised as a Trappist Monastery, allowing them to use the term on the labeling. But as the beer is not brewed on their own premises, the beer is not a Trappist ale.

Golden coloured ale with a nice slightly off white head. Aroma: fruity, malty and some sugar. Taste: malty, sweet, some fruitiness, bitter, and some grassy hoppy notes.

Murky orange, sweet caramel spicy taste. Good amount of carbonation. Very nice beer.

Light amber to dark gold in color. Not such a tight head, big bubbles, though high carbonation, too much actually. This doesn’t have a super strong aroma, but some fruity banana notes pop out. Overall balanced to bitter to sweet ration. Has a nice toastines and bread tones. Spicy yeast character. A bit light in flavor and body, though I had it after a more intense beer. Has a good taste, but nothing special.

It pours a copper color with a very large white head. It has a earthy aroma and smells like caramel, resin & leather. It has a earthy taste with caramel and dried fruit flavors. I really enjoyed this beer. Highly recommended.

From 0.33 L bottle, pours hazy, dark brown to amber coloured with an off-white head. Aroma malty, grainy, bread, slightly herbal, yeasty. Taste follows the aroma with typical yeasty taste. Medium body, average carbonation, a bit thin mouthfeel.. It’s OK, but there are way better Trappist beers.

0,33l bottle bought online. Pours a hazy deep amber colour with one finger of lasting head. Aromas of Belgian yeast, caramel, and whiff of floral aroma. Taste matches the aroma with a well balanced hoppy finish. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. It reminds me of Westmalle Dubbel but only sweeter. Recommended.

Poured from a 330 ml bottle into a tulip glass at the World of Beer in Pooler, GA. The appearance is a cloudy amber brown color with a medium sized white head.dull gold colored cap.
