VDuquerroux (1895) - Airvault, Haut-Poitou, FRANCE - FEB 21, 2017
Bottle, 33cL. Home. Kindly given by @Jaghana. A sparkling pitch black beer with a medium beige ephemeral head. Herb, mint (++), chocolate, roast, light coffee. Light to medium sweet, light to medium dry lasting bitter refreshing. Medium ggod body, light to medium oily texture, soft carbonation, dry toasty mint finish. Overall, just ok ; I don’t like when the spice/herb defines the beer ; unbalanced ; nevertheless, nice try :)

CraftBeerNick (2881) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 24, 2016
Bottle at home, 23rd October 16. Pours black, with a white head. Aroma is herbal, fruit, cocoa. Taste is herbal, sweet, some bitterness underlying, herbal forward, certainly different, there are stout elements beneath. Probably would not have another, but this was enjoyable.

Calisky (3099) - ALSACE, FRANCE - OCT 9, 2016

MrHangover (4693) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - SEP 7, 2016
Bottle. Pours a blackish beer with a big tanned bubbly head on top. Aroma of mouthwash and tootpaste, minty with after-eight chocolate. Some roasty coffee notes in the very back. Flavor is a lot better, sweeter chocolate, dry tea notes, herbal touches and a roasty malt character. Quite weird and complex, yet very interesting and certainly not bad at all.

Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - SEP 7, 2016
Bottle @ first Wednesday tasting at De Molen. Black pour, thin tan head. Aroma of toothpaste, mint, licorice, cough syrup and loads of spices. Flavor is very spicy, licorice and somewhat bitter. Smooth and with a nice balance.

PapaCanard (182) - SWITZERLAND - AUG 21, 2016

Hopverdju (1573) - BELGIUM - JUL 6, 2016
Zwart bier met bruin schuim. Geur: kruidig, karamel, iets groen, honing, koffielikeur. Smaak: bitter, koffie, kruidig, floraal. Zeer romig mondgevoel. Afdronk: bitter, wat vanille.

ruigo (3080) - PORTUGAL - JUN 14, 2016
33cl bottle. Deep black colour with a nice brown head. Mint, absinthe, chocolate and malts in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium to full body. Taste is bitter with some herbal and roasted notes. Dry and astringent finish. Overall, an interesting but a bit unbalanced beer.

Ulysse (539) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JUN 3, 2016
Strong herbal and cough syrup aroma. Tastes like good-for-health medicine. It’s quite overwhelming unfortunately. Though there’s a minor aftertaste of roasted peanuts which is very nice.

30/IV/16 - on tap @ Tilquin English Beer Festival - BB: n/a (2016-464) Thanks to the Belgian Ratebeer Crew (and Beerhunter111) for sharing today’s beers!

Dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of lavender, spicy and weird, caramel, some roast, sweet coffee. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: very floral, spicy, lavender, weird, sourish, dark roast. Aftertaste: red currants, very fruity, nice roast, bit sourish. I can see how this will offset some people, but I can dig it. I have a long time relationship with Génépi, and a lot of both good and bad memories. :p
