Monday, January 15, 2018. Bottle, 33cL. 9%. Purchase ("Chez Alain", @Rennes, FR). Home. A sparkling black beer with a medium beige coffee foamy head ; medium retention ; ok lacing. Roasted, toasted notes, cognac, dried fruits, wood, black chocolate notes. Medium round sweet, medium to heavy dry bitter, warming background. Medium good body, oily texture, soft gaseous, sweet strong roasted lasting dry finish. Overall, great one again, maybe too much dark malts to be awesome (again...).

Bottle at home from Cave a Bulles, 9th December 17. Pours black, with a nice tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, slight liquor. Taste is smooth, dry, cocoa, chocolate, barrel, yes some cognac, bitter and dry, lovely Imerial Stout.

Bottle picked up from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent, Belgium, consumed at Isobel, Baz and Judes, Builth Wells, Powys, Wales, Saturday 11th November 2017 having just cooked Chicken Mole and a whole baked Cauliflower. Pours black with a slim off white head. Nice barrel ageing notes on the nose, the cognac also shows in the mouth. Some dark chocolate and coffee, roasty malts but not too sweet which is great. Lovely Imperial Stout, really like this. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

Bottle. Black, tiny unstable brown head. Aroma wood, smoke, chocolate, caramel. Sweet taste, lots of warmth, alcohol. Medium full body. Finish somewhat medicinal - bitter and sour mix. Good, but not sure it is an improvement on the basic Tzarine.

minutemat (6381) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - SEP 13, 2017
330ml bottle from Cave a Bulles, Paris. Pours black with medium, lasting deep tan head. moderately sweet aroma with soft milk chocolate, light cognac influence. Taste presents a solid chocolate-tinged stout with a comforting, light, well-integrated barrel-aged sweetness creeping underneath. Could do with a little more body, but generally no real complaints. Enjoyable stout for this miserable rainy Parisian evening.

Zwart bier met beige schuimkraag. Geur: koffie, donkere chocolade, alcoholisch en iets van vlees. Smaak: hout, alcoholisch, bittere en wat zurige koffie, ietwat licht zoet. Matige koolzuurprikkel. Medium volmondig. Afdronk: prikkelend kruidig, alcoholisch.
