UPDATED: FEB 19, 2017 (12oz bottle) AROMA: a little floral and honey, sweet malt, hint of pils hops, smells a german-ish. APPEARANCE: pale straw yellow, light white head that fades quickly, clear, good carbonation. TASTE: sweet corn and a little tropical fruit, a touch of barley and coffee, hints of Bavarian Pils, some dryness on finish. PALATE: light and crisp, more body than your average mass market lager, some bitterness on finish in the cheek/throat. OVERALL: a very non-American style lager, more flavor and substance than what youre probabaly used to from pale lagers, no bad flavors, Im surprised at the low ratings.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow with very small frothy white head, sweetish bread aroma, high carbonation, very little malt taste, weak watery body, abrupt finish. Slightly more tasty than water.

Yet another example of brand proliferation from the mighty Cerveceria Centro Americana, this one appears to be a premium brand commanding roughly a 5 quetzal premium over Gallo. Not worth it. Tastes of nothing really, ever so slightly sweet.

355 ml bottle - Monte Carlo is quite hard to describe. Firstly Ive had water with stronger tastes than this but despite its lack of taste, non-existent aroma and palate it is actually refreshing. Sampled twice now in 27-34c Guatemalan heat, it is really refreshing. Perhaps looking at it purely from a domestic market it makes sense, and on top of this it is actually sold as a more premium alternative to the mainstream Gallo. Having said that the Gutemalans Ive asked prefer either Gallo Ice or Moza to Monte Carlo.

Better than Bud or some of the other adjunct/corn lagers. Better than Corona. I had it from a can, so no light fouling.

Color amarillo palido, buena carbonatacion. Poca espuma e inestable. Ligero aroma a lupulo. Sabor ligero a malta y lupulo. Cuerpo muy aguado. Seguramente refrescante con mucho calor (como agua carbonatada). Botella @ hardrock cafe en guatemala.

Another random lager from a random developing country, so what else is new? This one has pretty much no aroma, there really is nothing there. The appearance is a boring yellow but at least there is some head. Flavour is bitter hops with some grassiness. Its harsh on the finish. This is a poor excuse for a "premium" lager.

355ml bottle. Clear gold with thin soapy head. Aroma is of weak malts and sweets?! Very sweet soapy taste with a bitter grassy finish. Not great.

Bottle. Has a clear light straw colour with a medium, white, whipped eggwhite-like head. Aroma of sweet corn, pale malt, lots of grass and some citrus. More grass in the flavour with hay and pale malt. Has a watery and slick mouth feel, and a very light bitterness. The beer has a strange aroma with an expected flavour.
