Bottle. 12.7 oz. Spli with Vin. Pours a hazy, opaque chocolate brown with zero head. No lace. Aroma of sour wort, tart cherries, barley, wild yeast, farmhouse, figs and tart. Medium to full bodied with an awesomely sour palate. Finishes slightly dry and boozy. Sick ass Italian barley.

smith4498 (3647) - Winter Springs, Florida, USA - JUN 2, 2010
Pours dark brown cola color with thin tan head. Sour, vinous, funky aroma with some chocolate and oak. Tart and vinous flavor with lots of oak. Medium body with soft carbonation.

badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - MAY 31, 2010
Almost black with a short lived white head. Chocolate, berry, and red wine aroma. Nice creamy palate. Tastes of mild chocolate, vanilla, berry, red wine, and oak. This would be a nice complement to dessert.

Purplish pour. Nose is sour malt and merlot. Taste is lovely sour grape. Very wine like. Rated 8/24/08

Bottle shared with Nico, Philip and Felix. Pours slightly cloudy dark brown, almost black, barely detectable head. No lacing, but it has legs! Aroma of rye and pumpernickel bread. Taste starts slightly sour, dark fruits, dates, cereals, bread dough. Finishes tart and slightly bitter. Interesting, and worth trying again.

DalzAle (2037) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - APR 7, 2010
Bottle sample (from notes). Clear dark amber brown, no carbonation and a sour red wine and whiskey aroma. Flavor was sour red grapes, oaky, earthy and finished dry with some alcohol (but not overpowering).

Oakes (17685) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 3, 2010
Dark brown. Vinous, chocolatey, barrelly with rich deep fruit notes - a very complex nose. Fruity front, almost juicy with some tartness. Light chocolate on the palate as well, maybe a hint of barrel. The palate is probably not as full and realized as the aroma, the body maybe a shade thin.

Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 1, 2010
Bottle, thanks Alex! Nice pop from the plastic cork. The color of the beer is the color of dark chocolate. Yields only scant head. Aroma is wholly unique. Chocolate is immediately apparent. Over that is funky barrel with fun sour organisms and cherries. Palate is dry, nearly woody, flat and somewhat thin. Flavors of sour cherry predominate, which then mellows out to smoothness. The flavors do not carry all the aromas. Not as much chocolate. There is lots of sherry instead. Nice flavors with dry finish. Very drinkable.

The aroma is sour, funky, and sweet with fruit, barnyard, and wood. The appearance is dark brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin and not very carbonated. Overall I don’t like this.

Palidor19 (3188) - Brandon, Florida, USA - MAR 26, 2010
slight tart on the start, gives a nice mellow flavor with a bit of mild caramel flavor. slightly fruity. nice alaround
