The aroma is sweet caramelic with notes of roasted bread. The color is dark brown and it has a small disappearing head. The flavor is of caramel, roasted malt, and a light maltyness, before it ends on an OK bitterness. The body is thin. A boring schwarzbier. joergen (28458) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 21, 2006

UPDATED: JUN 13, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Very dark, almost black with a brownish head. No less than five different malts were used for this. The appearance is roasted almost burned but at the same time mild without any sharp bitterness. Monteith’s has been bought up by the national brewing giant DB meaning that only very little beer is actually brewed on the West Coast of the South Island. This for instance is brewed in Auckland. 260503 madmitch76 (25009) - , Essex, ENGLAND - SEP 17, 2011
