3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
It certainly is a good looking beer. Beautiful golden colour with plenty of sparkling carbonation and a fluffy white head. The aroma is of perfumy hops, light and floral. I think it could afford to be a little more pungent. There is good body with excellent spritzy mouthfeel. There seems to be quite a tang of heady alcohols which leaves a lightly warming sensation but is just a little unnecessary. Why not lower the alcohols down to about 5% and call it a pilsner rather than attempting an imperial just to hand over more excise tax to the government. I would have thought of an imperial pilsner as being more of everything - more flavour, more aroma and more remarkable. This isn’t a bad nudge but does require a little more tweaking to get right I think.
Whoever did the label spelled palate incorrectly.
An unpleasant wet grass and hay aroma, pours a clear golden color with a lasting white head with nice lacing. A refreshing taste slightly sweet and crisp with notes of grain and nuts with a medium body and a grainy lightly bitter finish. canadiankiwi (148) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 16, 2016
Poured from bottle. Light gold colour with lineman head. Typical Pilsner smell with grass and hay. Sweet taste, with a slight earthy tastes throughout

Tastes like a continental lager, but with American pale ale style hops. Unfortunately not as good as either. tombutlin (313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 15, 2015
Must be a stale batch - no head and tastes like Lion Red, which is not a good thing. Monteith’s, are you going to sort me out with a replacement so I can judge it properly? I tipped it down the drain

A fine drop. Well deserved Imperial name - with its 7% ABV. Good hops evident. Will have another one in preference to that rubbish from Speights. waiake (606) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 6, 2014
Fine looking beer is orange gold taste is malt hops alcohol with a quite a harsh peppery bitter finish Muggus69 (2531) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - SEP 3, 2014
500mL bottle BB 05/14
Pours a pale orange straw body, big foam atop.
Restrained sort of nose; floral hop, touch of spice, with some oxidised malts & overly ripe stonefruit.
Soft carbonation, kind of syrupy, chalky, soap, touch odd. Alcohol apparent.
Falls to bits on the body; oxidised malty notes of browned apple & cardboard, bit whack of corny DMS, some floral hop but bitterness is abrasive, fusel alcohol finish.
Had some promise, lost it - poorly made, unnecessarily strong. mkel07 (6140) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - AUG 16, 2014
Bottle from Cellarbrations November 2013. Dark amber colour when poured into the glass. This is a beer that has a decent flavour and is full in the mouth. Tuxford (13) - - JUL 19, 2014
Very refreshing for a 7% AVB beer. It's medium body is well balanced with sweet malts and hops. Finisheswith a nice honey taste.
