Monteith’s Crushed Apple Cider is patiently fermented straighted from freshly crushed New Zealand apples. A crisp refreshing cider made from 100% apple juice and not a syrup concentrate, this ensures all the flavours are retained to deliver a true apple cider.

33 cl bottle. Pours pale, almost no colour and no head. Sweet fruity apples aroma. Sweet fruity, almost sugarish finish.

33cl bottle. Klare sehr hell gelbe Farbe. Geruch nach mild süßen Äpfeln, Zucker. Geschmack ist unangenehm fruchtig, künstliche Äpfel, naja.

Koelschtrinker (22074) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - APR 22, 2017
Mild apfeliger Beginn. Wässrig, steigende Süße, süffig. Natürlich, milder roter Apfel. Etwas langweilig. 5/7/8/8/7/7

Top marks, these guys know how to brew a decent drop of cider. 10 out of 10. Lovely jovely.

BB 20-07-17. Looks like carbonated water - crystal clear and colourless with no head and no lace. Carbonation high, active and very coarse. Aroma-less. Taste very slightly of red apple sweetness then with an ever so slight hint of green apple tartness. Light body. Crisp with a fizzy mouthfeel and with a very slight red apple sweetness on the short finish.

Sweet alcoholic water with a faint hint of apple somewhere. I drank this out of desperation when I was stuck in a Monteith’s bar. I sampled the only beer I hadn’t previously frowned upon, and then figured the cider couldn’t be any worse. It was

330ml bottle into shaker. Very faint aroma of tartness. Crystal clear mineral water appearance. So...looks like fizzy water and doesn’t smell of anything. Refreshing zingy mouthfeel. Finish is apple core then a touch of sherbet. Pleasant enough but unusual because of its COMPLETE lack of colour.

Can - pours almost water like. Aroma is sweet apples. Taste is on the sweet side but not overly so. Palate is a bit light. Easy to drink cider.

330 ml bottle bought at YATA in New Town Plaza, Shatin.

Clear, near colourless with very pale very yellow green hue; Razor thin head and residual soapy white foam which fades in 5 seconds; Near zero lacing with notable slight carbonation; Sweet aroma of apple wine and apple juice, with moderate yoghurt tartness, sugar, strong wood, sparkling wine, light mustiness and strong tannic; Mid to light sweet taste of light apple wine, with fairly light tartness very strong carbo, sugar, light alcohol, very light wood and light tannic; Light body. Thin and slightly oily palate; Mouth feel is very scrumpy like with strong sweet feel and apple can be felt at this level. Lots of carbo in this! Alcohol can be felt in background and has a slightly oily feel to the tongue, otherwise permeating sweetness cover up the light tartness, wood and tannic. Sorta okay… Wet after taste. Fairly sweet and quite easy to mouth.

Comments: Having many scrumpy with strong booze and no apple nor sweet tastes, this is what I’ve wished for but dodin’t quite work out: nicely sweet, but the booze is not high enough to impress, and while the apple taste makes its presence, the yoghurt and tannic is too low. All things are evened out so it’s drinkable but rather average. Oh, and did I say too much carbo?
