Better alternative to Export Gold, smells and tates so much nicer. Easy to drink and everyone’s happy.

quite cloudy, tastes and smells to much like honey. too fizzy. a bit thin and bland.

Pours a nice clean head. Good colour depth, gold tending to brown. No descript nose with some faint sweet notes. Refreshing palate, good fizz, but I’m battling to find any defining flavour notes. Finishes a fraction thin. Edit: some ok malty notes appeared later and filled the berr out a bit...I'll bang on another point for the development.

Hoppy aroma. Clear yellow colour with small head. Spicy hop flavour. Fizzy aroma.

bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 14, 2004
Orange straw colour with a white fluffy head that lasted most of the distance and left some lacing. Slight malt aroma which took a while to come through. Not a lot of taste, a balance of malt and hops, slightly soapy on the finish and almost oily texture. Thirst quenching beer and nothing more.

Somewhat pilsnerish, but not really quite there, not enough hop aroma or bitterness for that. I swear that I could taste the use of sugar in this brew, but the bar-wench told me I was dreaming.

Pale gold, big head with large bubbles that is gone as quick as you look at it, leaves some lone bubbles atop the beer. Looks pretty bad in fact. Aroma is that stinky bloody wet dog thing. I didn't expect that, I thought this would be good dammit. Fortunately the aroma doesn't continue into the flavour, in fact nothing does. Fizzy light palate with the slightest hint of malt and neglible hops. I am actually fundamentally disappointed I spent the weekend trying macro beer that I expected to be bad and this is only just better than the best of them. However it will have to lose some overall points for having the image of a quality beer when it is actually a lowest common denominator beer.

The good thing about this beer is that it is available in the departure lounge at Auckland airport. This means you don't have to pay for it. The bad thing is that it is another disappointing version of the same lager style available from everywhere else on the planet. No hop aroma to speak of and a poor fizzy head that lasts only briefly. I think this is my 100th lager rating, so a disappointment that this should be it.

farmboy (218) - Barwon Heads, AUSTRALIA - OCT 26, 2003
Ordinary. Tries to be something it's not. I simply did not enjoy this beer. Thankfully it came in a 330ml bottle and I didn't have to endure another 45ml more than I normally would have to.
