330 ml bottle bought at Great Food hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty during the ‘New Zealand food festival’ promotion.
Clear dark amber copper colour; Razor-thin head and residual soapy off-white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with active carbonation; Sweet aroma of dark malt, with caramel, sugar, light assorted dark fruits, bread, biscuit, and faint grass; Very light sweet taste of light dark malt, with very light caramel, hint of Cola, light bread, hint of lime, faint bitter hops and light grass; Light body, thin but slick palate; Mouth feel is straight forward thin dark malt - pretty nicely roasted with further sips - in a thin but pretty slick body. Thin caramel, slight Cola taste. Decent breadyness, not much hops and almost no sweetness. Okay… Hoppiness - nose, taste and bitterness - are minimal for a very undemanding muted malty non-finish; Fairly after taste, very easy to mouth.
Comments: This one is very easy and undemanding just like James Squire Nine Tales Amber Ale. Unlike the latter, though, this one has some underlying thicker body, good lacing and slightly better roastyness. All in all an easy refreshment for supper. Drinkable.
Clear amber beer, small and persistent head, grain malty aromas, not too hoppy, sweet taste good overall balance, watery finish, but a nice one. skortila (5790) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - MAY 25, 2014
On tap @ Shakespears’, Auckland. At least I think it was at Shakespears’.New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma has grains, some grass. Clear, copper/amber coloured beer with a slight off-white head. The taste is bland, sweet malty, light grassy. Watery mouthfeel. Quite some carbonation. Boring. Ferrers, Streatham - amber pour with medium white head. Toasty malty, grassy hops, slight caramel, toffee, nutty, pretty basic overall.
OLD NOTES JAN 5, 2004
A really light dark malt scent on it, almost undetectable without a good sniff. Pours a clean deep ruby amber colour. A caramel malt body. A few little candy sweet characters, but quite watery overall. Also a fair bit of carbonation in the mouth. I’m quite disappointed.

Bottle from Booths. Deep copper-amber but next to no head. Has a light malt aroma with a good character to it without being full of flavour. chinchill (4909) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 5, 2014
On tap at the brewery in Greymouth, NZ
Excellent clarity in this deep amber ale. Both flavor and aroma are a bit light for style; the lightest pale ale I’ve had in NZ. Still, very well-crafted and balanced, as well as very fresh (of course).
Feel: Light+ body with medium-high, very crisp carbonation. Clean finish.
O: recommended as a somewhat light flavored pale ale.

Mild and solid one. Some hops with a decent malty background. Hints if caramel and balanced carbo. Quaffy, classy piwo. kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 28, 2013
The head is ok, the body amber. It smells hoppy, intensive, maltaromatic. The taste is malty, mild, bit hoppy, bit fruity.
