Monteiths Pilsner Beer is a Bohemian-style lager in the heritage of extremely hopped blonde beers brewed in parts of Eastern Europe. It has a complex hop aroma and a rich hop bitterness characteristic of this tradition in brewing.
Monteiths Pilsner Beer has a malty quality that includes smooth caramel characteristics from the use of Vienna-style crystal malts. The key flavour is its enormous hop character, crafted around this complex malt flavour.

I have good memories of this one, very refreshing on a hot summer day at the bbq/beach in NZ.. Nothing too strong flavourwise, but there’s something fresh and tasty about it nonetheless, makes it a heck of a lot nicer than a lager, very refreshing and drinkable.

Little bit of an odd duck here. Served cold and with a creamy, off white head that soon settled to a light cover and lots of fine lace. Color is a clear amber with some bubble trails. Aroma is malt, grain, hop. Flavors like nose, grain flavor pronounced, light carbonic tang, mild sweetness and hop bitter. Body is ok, ditto carbonation but even so, it still seems somehow a little flat. Finish is like both flavor and body, which doesnt work to the beers advantage. gigged it on that a notch. Kind of weird; i like it, but then again... meh.

A sweet but very hoppy pilsner, not at all skunky, thank the good Lord. Interesting contrast of soft mouthfeel and tongue-tingling bitterness on the back end. I really like this!

Definitely a lot going on in the nose and the appearance, with the various flavor notes such as grass, lemon, and spice, and a fine frothy head. Although the taste is not as complex as many Eurpean pilseners such as PU and Mahrs, it is well balanced and fresh-tasting nonetheless.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2014 Bottle at Taps, Leicester. Crisp, herby, pizza crust, grassy Pils. Thick bubbles. Nice rainwasser arome. Enjoyed this.

Bottle from Friar Tuck in Savoy. Pours golden with a white head. Typical aroma of pilsener malts, lemon, and hay. Light bodied with average carbonation. Flavor of biscuit, lemon, pils malt, and spicy European hops. Perhaps a very slight amount of DMS on the finish. Pretty straight forward and not worthy of the low rating here.

Bottle looks simple but good. Nice format. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts malty-spicy, modest dry, zippy, fruity hints of lemon. Finish mild but not washy, still fine spicy. Not bad!

Koelschtrinker (18072) - Kln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 11, 2011
Minimal herber Antrunk, dann verstrkt malzig und getreidig. Der milde Geschmack setzt sich auch im Mittelteil fort, dazu kommt eine dezente Se, die etwas trocken wirkt. Herb-getreidiger, dennoch milder Abgang. Test vom 11.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 11,11,12,11,10,11 - 11,10
